Direct, Dish or AT&T

For price

Dish- I had the best service with them and little to no price increases

for quality

and selection Direct TV: prepare to be screwed and there is little customer service with them. I had a nightmare with them when I moved but it was a great service when I had them. Pricing is all over the place and gets jacked up quickly with battles to correct anything.

For the better internet: TWC is the best esp if you get wideband(35x5) or (50x5)

TV is good but after the promos you will get screwed on pricing. i hate their customer servcie and I may or May not work for them.

u verse- I agree with the At&t hate. As I deal with businesses they are horrible with service and pricing. U-verse may be ok in some areas but terrible in the SC area.

Verizon FiOS internet is superior to everything mentioned. But it is extremely expensive & not available in many places.

You are correct, though. The companies that have the best service also have the worst customer service & shady pricing.

satellite: DirecTv is the best quality, but they will increase rates/remove channels without warning.

cable: Charter, in my experience, has the best television/internet/phone combo service. There prices are also competitive. The #1 complaint is customer service. It is horrible & they need a new CS system.

wireless provider: Verizon has the best coverage, but they are extremely shady & will nickel & dime you to death with hidden fees/taxes.

Probably the best unbiased opinions in this thread instead of the usual TWC sucks! blah blah blah. Every one of those companies has its pros and cons. Just decide what you need, weigh the pros and cons, decide what kind of bs you want to deal with, then choose a company.

WRONG on so many levels. Verizon FiOS is the best internet. AT&T U-Verse is a complete ripoff. It is advertised as fiber optic, but it still uses a copper coaxial line. It is dial-up on steroids.

Go with Charter Communcations or DirecTv. Satellite will have the best picture quality but it is a trade-off because a storm will knock it out everytime. Charter has competitive rates & bundles for internet/tv or internet/tv/phone. It is the way to go for coaxial cable. If not, go with DirecTv.

I worked at CommScope making telecommunications cable & now I'm a cable contractor & install/service tv, internet, phone, & anything else associated with coaxial cable. I install for Time Warner, Charter, AT&T, etc. Charter is the best service for your money if you go coaxial. It's all personal preference between satellite/cable. For me the very minimal picture quality satellite has isn't worth losing service everytime a pair of clouds bump into each other.

Now I will wait for a huddle expert to correct someone who does this for a living.

I wanted Verizon FIOS but it isn't available in Raleigh so I kinda forgot about them. The closest thing is ATT U-verse here and I knew it was a fiber/copper hybrid when I ordered it. Nobody tried to tell me otherwise. Not sure what you mean by it being dial up on steroids but I get 18 mbps which is faster than when I had TWC and craps out 1,000 times less often.

Also, as someone who has had Direct TV, Dish Network, TWC, and ATT U-verse the over the last 5 years ATT U-verse has been by far the least expensive. Especially with bundle pricing.

Show me a set top box that has a fiber input/output thats not for audio. Pics would be fine. You sir are a dumbass and is probably the reason you are still just in contract work. Even verizon fios uses fiber to the prem (NID) then coax or twisted to the set top boxes.

Wrong, again.

Verizon FiOS delivers an optical signal directly to an ONT (optical network terminal) located outside/inside your home. Then it is a coaxial or ethernet connection to your device.

AT&T U-Verse delivers an optical signal to a NID (network interface device) in your neighborhood. That signal is then converted & sent to your home using coaxial cable (copper wire).

Huge difference. One is a true fiber optic signal sent to your home, the other is a marketing scam. Whatever advantage fiber optic technology has over coaxial is lost at the NID, where it becomes coaxial.

Run along & enjoy your U-Verse magic internet.

Just out of curiosity why do you keep saying it is a scam. U-Verse explained to me the difference when I ordered it and it has been 10 times more efficient and craps out 10 times less often than TWC.

Compared to FIOS I agree with you (and maybe that is your point) but FIOS isn't available in Raleigh, but in my experience as a person who has actually used both Road Runner and U-Verse in recent years, there really isn't a contest between TWC and ATT U-verse.

I love DTV, heard nothing good about Dish, and nobody in Cali has TWC.. Comcast is good but when my triple play was up, they charged me 250 bucks a month for Cable, internet and phone, when I tried to get the price down, the denied me. So I switched to DTV and got NFL ticket for free. Comcast internet is really good, so I kept the internet and phone. When I told Comcast i was switching they tried to lower my bill more than what I was asking previously, I laughed and told them DTV is installing it now. Only thing bad about DTV is the 2 year contract. When i was in the process of finding a new town home, DTV didn't care if where I was moving allowed it or not. They kept giving me some FCC law saying that I can't be denied DTV, blah blah blah. Other than that, having NFL Ticket was a blessing, going on 5 years now.

Do you even know what a NID is? And you claim you install this? Look it up, hell ill give you a hint the NID is on the side of your damn house. I call bs, you have no clue on how uverse is run or Verizon Fios for that matter. Still waiting on that pic of a set top box with a fiber feed that you claim fiber "laser beams" are all about. lmao

Because IMO it is somewhat false advertising saying U-Verse is a fiber optic service. The AT&T people around here always compare it price-wise & availability-wise to Verizon FiOS.

Most people I have come in contact with were under the impression it is fiber optic service just like Verizon's FiOS. It is not. The salesmen around here market it as "fiber optic technology" which is very dishonest, misleading & in poor taste, IMO.

It is a fairly decent service & affordable, but I would never recommend it because of their false advertising to so many customers I've encountered.

From my experience dealing with customers:

AT&T U-Verse: Good price & customer service, but the actual product is lacking.

TWC: Horrible product, dishonest service/pricing.

Charter: Almost no complaints about the actual service. Is the favorite. But everyone complains about their customer service.

Dish Network: Cheap price, but eaually cheap product.

DirecTv: Good service & product, but they remove channels & up the price with no warning.

Verizon: I'm not even aware of anywhere in NC that has FiOS yet, but my cousin in FL has the 24mbps service & it is insanely fast internet.

Wrong. My home does not have a Network Interface Device. I have an Optical Network Terminal located inside my home. My home has Verizon FiOS; true fiber optic internet.

YOUR home has an NID box because it is U-Verse & connects the exact same way coaxial cable internet does. BECAUSE IT'S THE SAME DAMN THING.

I can only go off of my own experience with them, and I probably didn't have that issue because I actually tried to do some research before calling them about their service and had a pretty good grasp on what the difference was.

But I can honestly say that outside of one small debacle (that wasn't really their fault) i have been more happy with their TV, phone, and internet service than any of the other guys I have used (and as I said, I have used them all that is available in Raleigh).

I will admit though that what I really want is FIOS. I just keep hoping it comes available in Raleigh sometime soon.

I've had Dish for several years. Well to the month since Time Warner decidied they'd drop NFL Network. Fug TWC.

Absolutely love the product and service.

Especially since I have 4 TVs in the house. Will soon be switching to the Hopper setup.

Direct TV is also a good product I'm sure, do yourself a favor though if you have a multi TV setup. Price the hardware cost necessary to run a multi TV setup between Dish and Direct and then make your choice.

Also Direct is not exclusive for Sunday Ticket anymore, that claim is rubbish. You can get it on game consoles like a PS3 for $149.
