Direct, Dish or AT&T

I'm beginning to think gat is that annoying kid driving a '95 Honda who wears an AT&T badge & comes to your house telling you about their magical "fiber optic" internet.

Still waiting on the pic of the Set top box with freakin laser beams coming into it. Now that is fuging magical!!

I can only go off of my own experience with them, and I probably didn't have that issue because I actually tried to do some research before calling them about their service and had a pretty good grasp on what the difference was.

But I can honestly say that outside of one small debacle (that wasn't really their fault) i have been more happy with their TV, phone, and internet service than any of the other guys I have used (and as I said, I have used them all that is available in Raleigh).

I will admit though that what I really want is FIOS. I just keep hoping it comes available in Raleigh sometime soon.

I have the 12mbps FiOS & it's plenty fast for me. The 24mbps is insane fast.

It's really just a pissing match. Any of the companies provided offer more than adequate internet service for a home.

Do you know the fuging definition of OPTICAL?

Sending a signal thru a copper wire isn't optical.

Unless TWC has upgraded their equipment the last couple of years, I would say they cannot provide adequate wireless internet. Speed yes, but it locks up or shuts down constantly and has to be rebooted almost once a week. Otherwise, i tend to agree.

So where is that picture of optical input on a set top box?

There isn't one, because like I said there is no fiber optic television service in existence. U-Verse "fiber optic" television is no different than Charter or TWC. Your signal is fed from an NID using a copper coaxial cable.

Never had this issue. Are you talking about rebooting the router? If so, might be a router issue and not TWC.

Fiber optic means your signal is transmitted directly to your tv box utilizing a laser beam.

Uh now your confusing me Verizon uses this or dont they?

And your wrong uverse is usually fed by cat5 from the NID to RG.

I've had Dish for several years. Well to the month since Time Warner decidied they'd drop NFL Network. Fug TWC.

Absolutely love the product and service.

Especially since I have 4 TVs in the house. Will soon be switching to the Hopper setup.

Direct TV is also a good product I'm sure, do yourself a favor though if you have a multi TV setup. Price the hardware cost necessary to run a multi TV setup between Dish and Direct and then make your choice.

Also Direct is not exclusive for Sunday Ticket anymore, that claim is rubbish. You can get it on game consoles like a PS3 for $149.

I heard there were a lot of issues streaming it through the PS3 last year, hopefully they get the problem fixed then I will dump DTV and watch it through my PS3, DTV is too expensive and I really don't watch TV that much anymore.

I own a Ups Store and I deal with the returns for all 3 companies. You could not pay me enough money to have AT&T service in my home. In my small town I return 4-5 units a day! Dish is a close second with about 2-3 a day. I may only see 2 directv boxes a week. Take it for what it's worth but both dish and AT&T were on the top 10 worst businesses for 2011.

I have TWC and the internet therefore I do not miss anything that DirecTv customers have...anything. My elderly parents live in the wilds of Waco, NC and switched from DTV to ATT as TWC is not an option. Needless to say, their boxes were being returned to ATT through a UPS store just like L-TownCat's within a month. Their customer service is a clusterf*@k beyond description and nothing seemed to work out-of-the-box as advertised.

What stat do you use as the 10 worst businesses source?

For customer service I see TWC as a permenant resident on poor customer service.

Also, the shipping stat your opinion is based on is intersting but proves little as leased boxes are always returned when customers upgrade to newer equipment. Dish is very friendly in this aspect.

Just sayin'.

The NID box is drilled to the back of your house right? If it is then an ATT guy ran Cat 6 to my dsl box just this week. That means nothing to me but maybe you understand it.
