Some people don't want to learn and others don't have the means or the need to learn.

I can swim, but I don't consider it an accomplishment .

Its not that they dont want to swim, they cant. You cant tread water when your pants are down around your legs.

Its a cultural thing. Until relatively recently in our country's history minorities had no access to public swimming facilities and socioeconomic conditions prevented them from having pools themselves. Really its only been since the seventies that they have had access, thats today's older parents. I suspect increases in percentage of swimmers will increase every generation.

I can swim like a fish, but had I not had access to a pool when I was young, I probably couldn't because I'm not getting in water I can't see the bottom of. Swimming in creeks and poo... fug that.

I taught adult swim classes in college. I had highly educated people in my classes....and they would turn into spastic idiots when they got into water.

Teaching a 40 yr old black women to swim is 10x harder than a 5 yr old. A 40 yr old white chick is just as difficult....just less of them out there

Meh.....I can swim, my wife can swim,my kids are water rats, they spend everyday they can at the community pool.....another dumb sterotype.....where do people come up with this crap from

BTW, that video was plain ole ignant......can honestly say I never went to a pool party like that coming up
