We have so much riding on our smaller college draft picks

I hope picking Amini over Cordy Glenn was the right decision

Yea that is what I thought when they announced the pick....time will tell.I was concerned when I learned he could not remain academically eligible at Nevada.

I hope picking Amini over Cordy Glenn was the right decision

i think it was.

glenn was more hyped than he deserved, imo. i couldn't quite understand why. probably because he went to georgia.. i kept seeing the word sloppy applied to him and i felt that in what limited videos i watched of him.

silatolu also had a word associated with him frequently...beast. also mean. also nasty. he was one of those guys that didn't get a lot of hype and attention early on because of the school he went to, but the more people saw of him, the more they saw this was the real deal. honestly i'm a little surprised that he wasn't more known. it was felt that he would go in the 4th round early in the draft process, but as the draft drew closer it was pretty obvious that teams liked him a lot and knew he was the real deal. about a month prior to the draft i saw him being talked about as a 3rd rounder and that kind of worried me b/c i wanted him here and i didn't think he would last long enough for us to take him in the 4th. in the last couple weeks before the draft i was hearing a lot of 2nd round talk because teams were talking to him and really paying attention.

aside from that stanford guy (who i really didn't want to give up a first rounder for) silatolu was the only OG i really wanted. i have a feeling this guy is going to impress in a way that few OL can. i wasn't crazy about going OL in the first couple rounds, but considering the level this guy can play at, i think it was most definitely the right move.

Jerry Rice, small school.

Did it matter? Did it stop hi from becoming the GOAT?

Big difference he was not drafted high in the 2nd. Name some others other than AE that were drafted in the 2nd .Most division 2 players go in the 4th and below

once they get in the league, where they played doesn't matter.

if they struggle, esp. silatolu, it has mostly to do with him being a rookie and mostly nothing to do with how big his school was.

20-30 years ago a small school guy was more of a risk but today with the internet and the value put on scouting. These players are less of a risk.

He will be fine....

Well until he gives up his first sack and then the Huddle GMs will label him a bust.

Plenty of players come from small schools.

People act like the NFL is filled with all big conference schools.

That simply is not the case.

Stop acting like it's rare for a small school kid to be a good pro. There are plenty of examples, all throughout the history of the NFL.

    • lol, that second part is quite literally one of the dumbest things ever. Having or not having guaranteed contracts has absolutely nothing to do with how much these billionaires have to pay.  Because there is a hard cap and a minimum cap spend requirement, and teams either use their cap or roll it over to use it all the next year, so the owners have to pay the same amount of money in the end no matter what. Having fully guaranteed contracts in the NFL would only hurt salary cap management, and thus would end up screwing over the team and its fan base when teams kiss on signings as they take up cap room that is needed to improve the roster. Look at the Browns with Watson, they gave him the fully guaranteed deal and all it’s doing is sucking up massive cap space now.  If they hadn’t done that, the owner would still be paying the same amount of money each year as that cap space would still be used elsewhere. If you want to argue for fully guaranteed contracts because the players deserve it, that’s an entirely different argument and a fair one to discuss.  But anyone against fully guaranteed deals isn’t doing it to argue for the billionaire owners.

    • Ryabkin could be the steal of the draft, he was a Top 10 pick heading into last season and had a rough year.  Lots of GMs passed on him because of that and his workouts. Pick has really high upside and Svech should be able to translate Rod tearing his arse a new one for making dumb plays since Svech has had several years of it.  🤣😂
