John Elway was...

Not comparing him to Elway, just on ages thats all.

And lets see...

Double Trouble. check

Defense. check

Jake had the best offense around him in his entire career. Better than what Elway had. Look what happened. So you think he's going to do any better when he's older? Gimme a break.

3 of 5 of Elway's SB performances:

QBR: 51.9, 36.4, 19.4

They won one "in spite" of him too.

Alltime playoff QBR-79.7, alltime playoff comp % 54.5

He had a lot of talent, he was a 1st rd draft pick. He wasn't great in the playoffs as many times as one would expect from his talent level.

And no I am not COMPARING them either...I am saying that usually you need only an efficient performance from your QB to win SBs.

Pretty much.

Elway's Bronco teams that didn't feature Terrell Davis took some of the worst Super Bowl whippings ever watched.

Was he a good quarterback? Yep. Arguably one of the best ever, but up until Davis signed on he was John Elwaittillnextyear, a guy who could get you to the playoffs - maybe even the Super Bowl - but couldn't win the big one.

Amazing how much one season's success can make people forget all the years of futility prior to that.

(this rule applies to Bill Cowher too)
