Theres Rivera's typical compliments and then theres the praise that he's been giving on Godfrey. You yourself have noted this in previous post. Wether or not this translates on the field remains to be seen. But camp wise he has c earned his starting role.

I just don't buy that there is an updated, accurate official depth chart out there in preseason prior to game/scrimmage #3.

Observations that Martin has dropped may be accurate or may only be accurate until Nakamura misses two tackles next game/scrimmage. Position coaches are playing with lineups and playing with heads. And those heads are not just limited to the heads on the rosters. They are playing with ours as well.

Nakamura the Ninja is still learning the system, I expect some lapses from him. Martin really doesn't have any excuses.

I never understand the phrase "he's learning the system". He's a free safety. There is only so much a free safety can do....like play zone or man coverage lol.

Godfrey hasn't been babysitting anyone. He can't tackle in the open field and struggles being where he is suppose to be.

Not true. His struggles are unique to himself. People don't make him look bad. He doesn't fling his body with no purpose at runners in the open field bc of Captain. He hasn't struggled with coverage assignments since his rookie year bc of Captain

Godfrey is by no means an elite safety but as bad as our secondary is we are lucky to have him. I mean we could have Haruki Nakamara as one of our starting safeties. Oh, wait.

Per PFF he had the 77th best tackling efficiency rating out of the 88 Ss they rated. He had 18 missed tackles per PFF.

But that was bc of Captain our SS struggles tackling though, huh?
