sign cooley and gaffney, cut tutu, armanti, brockel, hartsock.. at TE that gives us Olsen, Cooley, Barny and at WR that gives us Smitty, Lafell, Murphy, Gaffney, Pilares, Adams with Gettis on the PUP.. some weapons and insurance as well as Vets

I could live with that.

Cooley's wheels are shot.

How so? I know he's had some pretty hefty injuries over the years but he didn't look much different to me in watching the Colts/Skins game last week than he did when I've seen him in the past. Perhaps a little heavier, but I think that was to try to win Shanahan over in playing FB.

So, Cooley is trash compared to Hartsock and Brockel? LOL.

I haven't even been posting stuff about most guys being released. I said I'd pick up Molden earlier in the thread because we could use some viable competition at CB. I suggested VY because it would be ideal to have a mobile QB to be able to run the same offensive plays that Cam does in case we ever needed it (which I pray we don't). BUT, I later said it probably wasn't a good idea.

How many of the guys being released have I made threads about? After everyone sharted their pants flaming me over the Haynesworth thread after he was released from the Pats, I've been a lot more selective about who I even suggest as a possible addition.

We're fans, we look for solutions to things that we view as problems with our team. I'm not a big fan of Hartsock or Brockel, and Cooley, if healthy, would be an upgrade over both and open up a roster spot. But, that's trash?

I'd need to know more about what Cooley's current condition is like before I say yes or no.

Healthy and hasn't lost a step? Then I'm probably in. Otherwise, iffy.

Obviously, any contract needs to include a condition that he cannot show off his playbook - or anything else - online.

(I'll grant that Chud's playbook probably hides more than others do)

He's actually lost 30 pounds to ease the stress on his knees. He's not heavier he's much lighter and still slow. Look i love the guy. He's been my favorite player since S Taylor was killed. He's done. The Redskins would have never dropped their most popular player if not.

It would be nice to get another guy behind Cam who can run the same exact offense (option plays, runs, etc.), but after being reminded of the VY slight, yeah, it's best we leave him alone.

Backup needs to be able to run Chud's base offense....which is basically Norv's. Backup doesn't need to be able to run the tweaked Cam version of it. You can't find someone physically like him....and only a freak show would be running the tweaked version. RGIII for example will end up like Vick....hurt.

Oh ok... I had heard them discussing his weight during the game and assumed he bulked up due to the move to FB primarily. Maybe he has lost a step, but he's still better than Hartsock and Brockel, that's why I'd like to have him here. People said Stephen Davis was done before we signed him too, just sayin'...

Not necessarily, I think Vick doesn't know when to give up. Until RG3 starts missing 4-6 games a year because of injuries, I wouldn't equate him to Vick just yet in 'injury waiting to happen' department.

But, sure, we could continue running the base offense (Norv's) as you said if we ever needed to use our backup, but as I said, it would be 'ideal' if we could get a guy to come in and run most of the same plays that Cam did. No, he won't be carved from the same granite that Cam is, lol, and no, he won't be as athletic or as gifted, but it would keep that threat there for the defense to think about. As I said, I pray we never need it regardless... Just brainstorming aloud.

      I have been looking for a dropped pass list and all that comes up is QBs. And team stats. When I do receivers I get the passing stats for a handful that threw passes this year.    I wanted to be accurate but anyhow I was looking because thought I remembered reading where T Mac had more drops than XL this year.  One of you many smarter than me people here,I would appreciate it if you know how to pull that up, please do. Thank you.    And yeah I know that isn’t all there is to it I just thought it was interesting.  Of course what the hell is a drop lol.

      I agree with this and I think it's worth mentioning too that Bryce is not consistent on his placement and especially velocity and that in large part is driven by his footwork. We all know XL doesn't have the best hands and I don't know that he can overcome that. Cam always had the heater that just hit your hands and sank into your grip, where Bryce has some that are harder thrown, some soft. Bryce stepping into a pass looks so much different than that hop throw thing he does. I think XL really needs to hit the jugs machine and start learning how to catch all these different touch passes. TMac and Coker don't have these issues. If XL doesn't get some work in he's going to be out of the league in the next couple of years.

      I think most people like XL from a personal standpoint. I don't think he's stupid either. Although if we are being realistic he is lacking in football IQ at this point in time and it cannot be disputed that he has not taken working on his craft seriously at all times given the body of work on the field. It speaks for itself. I myself have defended him at times given the circumstances of our QB room. But he is now in his third year and 25 years old. We are not in a position as a franchise to go around babying anyone especially first round draft picks. He needs to take his position and his football career seriously or he is going to end up selling used cars somewhere. I hope he realizes this and takes an extended break from social media because that mess certainly isn't going to increase his net worth if he ends up out of the league. And these hanger on types will disappear quick too once that money dries up and it surely will eventually. We'll see how he responds.
