Chud Has To Stop Ignoring The Runnning Game

Last year wasn't the same way....it flat out works with Stewart and set up the bulk of our highlights from midseason on. That was a large factor in why we were the most effective rushing team in the NFL last year.

We weren't running a shotgun draw today. it looks comparable....but blocking assignments are different and the RB immediately gets the ball.

I didn't mean literally mean it was a draw. But its that same ol crap. Sometimes it's delayed. But either Way it's a bad way of tryIng to establish a run game. Whether it be dwill, stew, Tolbert or cam. Now I'm not saying it should be ripped out of the playbook. But jeez it dosent work but like once in a blue moon. And those times it was more of j stew being a beast than it was the play call.

I just don't like the shotgun run formation. It dosent set up well to me and seems wry ineffective at all times. Just my perspective. But who the fug am I, so it Dosent matter

It was on LaFell to reel it in. Cam still hit his mark.

Agreed. Splitting three defenders to the open wideout is NOT throwing into triple coverage. The ball hit lafell in the hands.

I would have agreed with running the ball more but the deficiencies between amini, kalil and hangman need to be sorted out.

No. We tried the run, It got us in 3rd and impossible over and over again. We had 1 rush for a first down and it was by a Wide Reciever. We only had Tolbert and Deangelo to run the ball. Reality is that things improved when we abandoned the run.

No we tried to keep runing out of the shotgun. We should have used some power I's and strong and weak sets. The Bucs were getting stop on some plays as well but they used different sets and kept trying to run the ball.

I don't think Chud is comfortable running this offense without Stewart. I can't blame him, Deangelo =/= Stewart.

I agree but he shouldn't ignore the run. Even though Dwill was gaining less then a yard each touch, he still needs the run plays to open up passing. You would think an OC would know that. He should have let Tolbert get a few carries since Dwill was getting shut down.

Get used to the Shotgun run formations, Cam's a Shotgun read-run style QB, even in the NFL. He personally asked for the Auburn style plays to be added to the playbook and they are there. A bulk of the playbook is shotgun spread offense/ pistol offense stuff from college, because that's what Cam's runs best.

    • I don’t go back and look at the espn but there live it definitely said 1 shot 1 goal when it happened. I guess they had not added them yet. Still allowing goals that early is rough. Blue line is a total disaster still. Even with Slavin back. Miller and Nikishin keep making mistakes after mistakes.
    • I generally disagree with the concept of picking a position because of value early in the draft. For instance, if there's a really good safety, RB or ILB at pick 10, I'm choosing him over a project WR or DE. Better players make the team better. A bunch of ok players will give you an ok team. The number 1 goal of the draft should be to improve the overall talent on the team. Not to fill positions of need.  Deciding beforehand that you're picking a LT in the first or second round because Ickey went down is not the way to improve the team. Now if Dan has similar grades on 2 or 3 players and one happens to be a LT, then yeah go for it. But don't pass on your guy at ILB because you have a gap at LT or need to improve the pass rush with a DE. When those guys don't pan out then you haven't improved your team. But that LB could have been a franchise cornerstone for years to come. See Luke Kuechly and Christian McCaffrey.
