Cam didn't step up.. but nobody else did either

As much as I hated Cam's performance tonight, I have to give this loss the the O-line for the lack of protection and not controlling the line of scrimmage. And the rest of the blame goes on the whole Defense. Is our Secondary even competent at the NFL level?

Maybe Cam doesn't force those throws if the O-line is doing their job. No excuses though, he should have played better.

I hope this is not the level of play we are going to get out of Cam from time to time.. that will be sad.

Another apologist. We get it. You like your shiny Cam Newton jersey. More power to you. Doesn't change the fact that Cam Newton was an abomination tonight.

And, actually, his protection was okay. Not great by any means, but good enough that he shouldn't have played THAT poorly.

That is so funny. You calling someone an apologist. Did you even comprehend the topic? Moron.

What the f*ck do you want Cam to do? Run all the routes and throw the ball to himself?

The Giants were playing the same style of defense they used to beat Tom Brady in the Super Bowl: rush four elite pass rushers and spread the rest of the defense in coverage.

When our running game disappeared the game was over, and the running game disappeared because we fell behind early, and we fell behind early because the defense played like SH|T. If Cam had gotten the same time to throw that Eli Manning did he could have done something, but Eli wasn't lining up across from Tuck, Umeniyora and JPP.

Well Cam doesn't force those balls if he has a D.....and the O isn't put in desperation mode.

Until Cam gets a D....he will turn it over. Game got to the point where he threw that 2nd pick.....where a punt wasn't a good play. He had to make throws even if it wasn't there

We get it. You're douche who would rather have Clausen at QB because he loses humbly. Being a bitch, doesn't make you a great poster it just makes you a bitch.

Cam held the ball too long. Period. Was the protection perfect? No. But he could have made more plays quicker. He couldn't decide where to go with the ball until the windows grew smaller and it cost him. He doesn't have the clock in his head set correctly. He played like an arrogant athlete instead of a competent and humble NFL QB. He thinks because he has all of this God-given ability that he is an exception to the rule. He isn't. Tonight proved it. He forced throws, did a poor job of anticipating the rush, lost all of his mechanics, and didn't even bother to change a thing. It was an arrogant and stubborn performance by him and he should be embarrassed.

Is this a joke? Cam has to control what he can control from beginning to end. He shouldn't start forcing throws in the 1st quarter (which he did) because "we have no defense". He still has to do his job, and namely not dig a deeper hole for the team, but rather settle the team down and get it done. He has to change his mental approach to being on the field and playing this game. He plays with passion when things are good, and plays like a toddler throwing a tantrum when it's bad. He has to play on an even keel. The offense surrounds him entirely. He has to bear that burden better than he has, or he will continue to fail at winning games.

    • Not sure why everyone keeps talking about the Panthers paying him $50M/year. I don't recall anyone EVER saying he deserves that. I think something like what the Dolphins signed Malik Willis to would be good: 3 years, $67.5M but it will probably be something along the lines of Mayfield or Darnold which is around $35M/year.
    • Actually that 4400 was based on a 16 game season to match Bryce's 16 games this year. Your offense has to be to drive the ball when it matters. Bryce doesn't do that with any level of consistency. If you're building a team that isn't focused on your QB, then fine. Then there's no need to pay Bryce as a franchise QB because literally anyone else will do. If you're going to pay him 50m plus per season, you have to be able to put the team on his shoulders and know he's going to carry the load. So far, when the pressure is on to get it done, Bryce has fallen miserably short of the target. 4-6 to finish out the season and 0-2 when all we need is a win to secure a playoff spot isn't stepping up and proving yourself as a franchise QB. I'd say it's quite the opposite.  There isn't a single coach in this league that would take Bryce over Burrow and very few if any that would take Bryce over Prescott. Hurts didn't have to throw in 2025 because Philly's defense was disgusting and Saquan had a MVP season. But then again, Hurts has shown that he can when it counts, and then there's his signature. Philly runs the tush push to lethal perfection, but that's a play we can't even consider with Bryce. You used 3 QBs from teams that had no defense to show QB stats don't always matter. When we had the worst defense in the NFL, we didn't see Bryce step up and carry the offense and put up gaudy numbers in a losing season because we were playing catch up. It was pretty much the opposite.  What have we seen from Bryce consistently to consider offering him a top 10 NFL franchise QB level contract? At the end of the day, that's all that matters.
    • I mean, what fanbase has high expectations when you have a QB like Bryce leading your team?
