Walking dead season 3

A large number of the people who DON'T like it right now, probably have more of an idea of what Walking Dead is about than those who like it. The problem with the Gov is they ruined him many shows before the finale, to the point where he wasn't that interesting as a villain, and no one cared if he survived etc. Same with Andrea. Most people hate both characters, and then you have a finale where you kill over the most hated character (sans Lori, maybe)? Then you have Rick not learning ANYTHING from the first 3 seasons and loading up a bunch of strangers on a bus and taking responsibility for them? It comes down to AMC trying to extend this show for a ton of seasons and also the constant changes with show runners, etc. This show can't find an identity, it changes each 5-7 episodes. In the end, people are upset because they have squandered so much potential for an amazing show.

TBQH the only way they can salvage my waning respect for the show is by either starting season 4 as being months and months, maybe even almost a year, after the end of season 3. The group has left the prison, or is getting ready to, because most of the Woodbury refugees have been killed/died off because of age or something...Maybe they are just going to give the survivors the prison and Woodbury to do with what they will, but Rick's group decides to move on in search for a safer place. Also, we'll need to see the Governor get into a car crash (Martinez and Ed Reed dead in their seats) and crawl out of an overturned vehicle only to be mobbed by a horde of walkers and ripped limb from limb.

Or something along those lines...

I don't really care for the group to remain at the prison. I want the Governor dead. Both of these things need to happen FAST.

I kinda really want Judith dead too, as dark as that seems, but this really is Rick and Carl's story.

The prison was a great idea for them and a good storyline, but it appears that all the interesting shots and plot devices it offers have been explored, so yeah, lets move on.

But I disagree with Zaximus takeaway regarding letting the strangers in, that seems to be the entire point of Ricks arc this season - that shutting off his humanity has proven more disastrous for the group. What good is survival in and of itself?

To me, not being a comic reader, it seems that all they've done is taken what has been described as a totally evil villain from the get go and gave him a backstory that he became evil from which is going to make him more interesting long term instead of just some crazy killer pirate guy.

I must be an easy target for this show, as the only real bitch of mine I can recall is the farm episode from last season where they felt compelled to put in the well zombie so we'd still know the end of the world was going on during the episode.

I thought about starting a thread for it, but I am really starting to buy into the conspiracy theory that Rick is still in a coma and all of this is just a terrible dream... That, or he died in the shooting that put him into the hospital, and he's in some sort of purgatory.

Man, that would suck... I hate that kind of storyline.

I can totally see how it would be true though... A lot of the characters in the comics have biblical names... Some of the injuries sustained are a little supernatural... a lot of the time the group's lengthier travels are basically skipped over and happen off-page/off-screen...

If you think about dreams/post-body experiences people describe moving from one place to another in a "changing scenes" type fashion... or those they know and love interacting with them in their dream/after they are clinically dead...

It's just a theory...

Oh it makes perfect sense, I just wouldn't like it...

  • 3 weeks later...

They have 8 episodes to kill the Governor and get out of the prison, as well as dive into a couple new characters in preparation of losing one or two significant ones in the last battle with the Governor. I want the last half of the season to be a bit more transitional for season 5 to snap necks with The Saviors storyline, honestly.

    • 99% of my complaints generally are front office complaints.  It may not appear that way always but that's where I have been for some time.   It's also why I constantly talk about random parts the last several years....  to this day, if they were going to draft Bryce Young....I thought they needed to do specific things.   They have literally done the opposite.   In a certain world, I would LOVE an AT.  A Bryce Young.  An XL.  All sorts of people.  How they have chosen to put it all together here? Meh.  I still think if Bryce Young is your QB....the easiest and obvious play for a team....would be a dynamic slot WR, a rec RB, and solid rec TE.  Spread it out.  Let him be the point guard.  I still think this team is being built for a different type QB....one that a Jake Delhomme style QB would thrive more in.  Which is in fact the heart of what Canales has been around and done.  So I nitpick it all.  If I had thought Bryce Young was going to rebound....I would have NEVER been all in on XL like I was.  I was all in XL because I thought the BY experiment was about to over quick.  Ladd would have made way more sense if you believed in BY IMO.   I don't think this team did.  I think Dave drafted XL because they were mentally ready to move on and did after 2 weeks.  and I thought the Frank think was bologna from the jump.  I just have hate the pairings and plan every since Rhule year 1.   Rhule year 1 was the last time I really thought this team was in a good place to give it a go.  It went horribly.  But....the zoomed out plan was pretty logical all around.  Rhule just was not ready and a clown on top of that.   I still think the Dave, BY, XL, Tmac build 3 round pegs and a square one at the end of the day.  Worst thing to happen to BY was to land in Carolina IMO.   Which is often how the NFL plays out.  Where you land and what the org does matters probably more than raw talent/ability often.  I do not actually have a problem with Adam Thielen in a vacuum.  He is overperforming in a vacuum all things considered.
    • Bryce Young could throw for 40 tds and 4500 yards this season and my gut instinct still says you would triple down on hating him.
    • They should just be predetermined slotted contracts.  I feel like that was the intention of the current system, but they left too much room for interpretation about guaranteed money.  I agree though.  You play for who drafts you or you don't play.
