Punting was the right thing to do

If we go for it, what if they stop us? Or what if there's another fumble? Boom... excellent field position for Atlanta. Meanwhile... if you punt, you give them an incredibly long field to deal with, with no timeouts and not much time left. That's exactly what we did. The fact is, we lost because of a miracle 60-yard pass. If you go back and play that last drive for Atlanta ten times, nine of them will result in the Falcons likely not even getting past midfield. I know the tendency after losses like this is to point fingers and hand out blame, but you've got to realize... this was a freak loss. I fully expect flaming to ensue, but so be it. Call me names and whatever... it won't bother me. You guys can disagree with me all you want. But these are the facts.

I wanted them to go for it the second we had the opportunity to do so.

On the road in a hostile environment.

A massive QB behind one of the best centers in the league.

Millions invested in our running backs.

A line that had held up well all day.

A defense that had given up big chunks of yardage all day long.

As soo as I saw the punt team I knew this game was over. Roddy White gashed us all day long, what made you think it would be any different when they needed him most?

I'm sick to my stomach. When you're on the road and have a chance to put the nail in the coffin, you do it.

this was a freak loss.

Wrong. It would have been a freak win. we deserved to lose.

And if you didn't see the 60 yard "miracle" pass coming, you were't paying attention. Roddy White lit us up all game, and no matter how many times we smashed Matt Ryan in the mouth, he stood in the pocket and delivered passes to him again and again.

If you want to play what if scenarios, here is a what if: What if Keahola hadn't saved that punt at the 1 (another amazing individual effor squandered today). Ball comes out to the 20. So we would have had what? A 19 yard improvement in field position? How long would that have taken to eat up that yardage?

On top of that, Atlanta has a perfect-on-the-year field goal kicker. You're gonna let him decide the outcome?

You want to let Matty Ice, White and Bryant control the outcome of the game instead of locking up a win when you control the ball and they've got no timeouts left?

Then you're the perfect fan for this team. Enjoy your mediocrity.

here is a fact: Punting was not the right thing to do. on paper? in John foxes mind? sure? but WE FUGGING LOST!!!!!!!!!!!! so are you still telling me that it was the right thing to do???????????????????? because if we go for it at least there is a CHANCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! that we convert that one lil yard and fugging WIN!!! but by punting WE LOST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

so let me ask you this say you can take home a fine chick from the bar, and one beside her is slightly better looking, bigger asz or whatever so you take the better one and she give you AIDS!!! are you gonna wake up and say....picking the slightly hotter one was the thing to do?????????????????????? • I did not want to start or even think about *if* BY reverts back to pre-non last 9 games.   There is a lane in which Panthers are looking QB after this season, I feel its higher than most will realize. I mean....not kidding... has any team ever traded up to 1st overall twice in the teams history? I don't even want to think within 3 years, just foresee Tepper squeezing Dans and Brandts sacs to the point were they are forced to trade up for a another savior.....   The kicker is I feel this way with BY playing good-great..... I think there with be non-fixable problems for contract negotiations between BY&reps vs Panthers org on the whole. You can not pay 50+ million per over few years with 70% guarantees for 3,303 yards 15 TDs and 9 INTs......Cursed I tell you....
    • It's not surprising, but it's still surprising that many of these guys don't manage their money in such a way that provides them and their families a better lifestyle than most for the rest of their lives without even working a nine-to-five. I can't imagine making over a 100 mil for a decade and ultimately ruminating about supporting my family due to financial issues.
    • That why i mentioned the KC dynasty. Those three different playoff loses were not Allens fault, in fact 1-2 plays and Bills win. KC just have better players and better coaches and more luck.  Defense-wise, Bills have been trying to crack the Reid-Halhomes magic. Its near impossible with rules and KC home field advantage. Spags has started to force the league in naming him the best DC in NFL history. I agree if you take away Bill bielacheat.... Add in Andy Reid the best QB coach and brilliant play designer/play-caller, I mean that's too much for one QB to over-come on his own.  Just trolling or not, bad is bad scot. Allen is legit as any one QB has ever been.
