No sense of urgency in Rivera's voice...

My boy said the Steelers were down to him and Tomlin a few years back. They didn't hire him because they see he didn't have that "killer" instinct. I see its true.

You see it, I see it, everyone sees it. It seems that between Fox and Rivera, having a killer instinct is not a requirement for Panthers coaching candidates. Maybe it never was, and maybe your chances of getting the job increase if you don't have a killer instinct.

there was a reason he was interviewed 9 times and rejected 9 times....but this organization does the same thing wit players....we take practice squad players and make them starters!

Bingo!

Until an owner (Jerry), who cares more about the 'league' than his own franchise saw that the 'league' needed a minority Hispanic HC, he wasn't hired by anyone. Rivera seems like a decent guy and all, but far far from HC material. After he gets shown the door here, which may take awhile, he'll have success as a DC elsewhere again.

Rivera was hired because Hurney knew Rivera was weak and wouldn't try a power grab anytime soon. Our team sucks cause Hurney is more interested in protecting his position than getting a coach with some balls. If the coach gets too popular, he might insist on more authority of personnel decisions and that would leave Hurney on the outside looking in. I see this crap in business all the time.

Whenever I watch other games and see real coaches on the sidelines I am just baffled that this clown is leading our team. He is worse than all but a handful of coaches in the league. It's no coincidence that our only win came against Aaron Kromer and the saints. Other coaches who are as bad or worse than Rivera are:

Pat Shurmur

Romeo Crennel

Jason Garrett (on a bad day)

Aaron Kromer

Dennis Allen (maybe)

That's it. His wins last year came against Raheem Morris (twice - fired), jim Caldwell (fired), jack del rio (fired), Gary Kubiak after the texans packed it in and mike shanahan starting John beck at qb.

Rivera is not head coach material and it couldn't be more clear. I bet opposing coaches love seeing Carolina next on the schedule because they have to be extremely confident in their ability to outscheme the clueless Ron Rivera.

    • Any idea what happened to him at LSU? im reading that he was considered a 1st round pick in 2023, had an off 2024 season with only 4 sacks but was also on a horrible FSU team then went to LSU where he was supposed to be on an aggressive defense that should have given him a lot of sacks but he only ended up with one….   was he injured? Did the top SEC competition expose him? What happened? Cause this guy was considered a top prospect .
    • Sometimes its fun to read the threads/posts.  The panthers could literally hire a groundskeeper and we'd have a thread "improving the field for no other reason to prop up Bryce Young".  Apparently no move is ever done to actually make the team better.  All a conspiracy to just focus on Bryce Young. Or suddenly daydreaming and reminiscing about Sam Darnold when he was hated more than Bryce Young.  Its really fun to do a message board search about Darnold during that time period.   Or thinking there is just a tree that grows QB, and you can just easily go up and pluck one.
    • Yeah okay. We as an organization have been more patient with him than many. And there has been a small parade of guys drafted since he was, also to bad teams, that have passed him. Some have lapped him. As a fan I am out of patience but he gets this year it is out of my hands always has been. I just hope the bar is higher than it has been for him.    FWIW, XL dropped two passes last year. He did do some other bad stuff, just saying.
