No doubt about it, we should now tank for a good draft pick.

Are you guys fuging retarded? Do you seriously think a higher spot in the draft is the solution to all our problems?

I don't think anybody said it was the solution to all our problems. With that said, if we ended up with the first or second overall pick and could sell high to a team in need of a QB we would be set up a lot better for the long term then if we had a pick in the middle to bottom of the top 15.....

Why?it's true why win we are only hurting our draft pick,it's not like we are playing for a playoff spot.

"Why" is simple, and obvious: a lack of talent isn't necessarily the problem with this team. Obstinate, idiotic coaching is the problem with this team. A lack of desire to grow beyond mediocrity and complacency is the problem with this team. Sacrificing a season for a top five draft pick that may not even pan out is a weak, defeatist attitude and shouldn't be tolerated by anyone who has even the slightest desire to see this franchise ever see more than less than a handful of winning seasons.

This should've been the game to see what Gettis can or can't do. We've needed a deep threat all season: hell, we needed a deep threat last season. Murphy is for all intents and purposes irrelevant, Lafell is at best a possession receiver, and I'm not so sure that Olsen isn't a #2 TE masquerading as a #1 TE because we have no one better to take it from him.

We don't see the defensive line consistently try to bat down passes at the line of scrimmage. Our slot receivers rarely see the field in lieu of Dud's bizarre man-crush with the option/pistol bullshit that gets us nowhere. Our current secondary is generally a disgrace with a few moments of competence. But damnit, the relentless soft zone crap hasn't worked for us, and the coaching staff keeps doing that. Drafting the best corner in the draft won't fix that, because they'll try to mutate him into something that he isn't.

I don't care where we draft or who we draft. Until we get smarter, more consistent coaching, this franchise won't turn around, and having fans suggest that this season doesn't matter because we need higher draft picks isn't something anyone should embrace or tolerate.

To hell with "finishing strong." We play joke teams the rest of the season and I would rather to tank and atleast get a good draft pick instead of finishing strong against bad teams. My fear is we finish 6-10 or 7-9 and mess up our draft position yet again. Hope we tank for a top 3 pick and give our GM a strong hand.

RR talking to Chud about team strategy prior to the start of the 2012 season: "To hell with "finishing strong". My fear is we finish 6-10 or 7-9 and mess up our draft position yet again. Hope we tank for a top 3 pick and give Marty a strong hand."

Is PantherTrain84 really Ron Rivera?

Winning more games from here on out proves very little and accomplishes less. The league rewards failure so, fail.

I do agree with most here however and believe we really don't have a decision to make. Probably gonna take it in the ass from here on out anyway. Bend over panthers. Real football teams are stepping in behind you.

    • That's my biggest concern with making him the 2C.  You split up the Aho Jarvis bromance that accounted for a lot of points.  If Jarvis excels as a C, it could help the team even more though.
    • The Saints being that high is the one that killed me. Chris Olave might not know his name at this point, Shaheed is coming off injury as well, so 31 year old Brandin Cooks might be your best WR...coming off a 260 yard season over 10 games. Kamara is Kamara, but didn't have 1,000 yards last year and is about to turn 30.  Toss in the fact that Taysom Hill may be the best QB on the team and I truly don't understand Barnwell's thoughts beside seeing the names "Olave" and "Kamara" and going yep, that sounds better than "Chuba" and "Thielen".
    • Now now now, I wouldn't say there is no logic, but there's just not a lot of in-depth thought put into Barnwell's  "analysis." Now to be fair to him (and other national writers), pre-season team rankings are basically clickbait. And...Barnwell, himself, said that "there's a lot of projection here." He basically admits that he doesn't know how the hell things are going to turn out with our receiver group. He also said that "I find myself" more intrigued by Coker than Legette; that does not mean that he said that fans should be, or that Coker will even be better than Legette (regardless of ESPN's per-route-run stat). So, yeah, Barnwell said some things, but even he has to basically admit that he doesn't know how bad or good that our playmakers will be in 2025.  Overall, what Barnwell is basically thinking is that the Panthers have gotten worse at the offensive skill positions, and baked into that is that others have gotten better. That's the argument in July (meaning, please don't give this any more weight than it's due). I would personally be surprised (not shocked) if we end up worse than the Titans, Pats and Giants at least. Once you throw in the Bills, Giants, Jets, Steelers, and even the Chargers, I personally think there are several teams' skill groups that may end up ranked lower than ours by the end of 2025.  @kungfoodudeis one of my dudes, but like others he is over the tipping point. He's had enough. Seeing is believing. I will say this though: Barnwell's piece is less about logic than just good ol' opinion. And to be honest, he might as well be a Huddler throwing out sh¡t in the summer based upon nothing but good feels or bad feels.  Our offense as a whole (just like any other team's) is going to depend upon the play of the O-line and especially the QB. How you can even rank the skill positions without expressly baking those two things in the cake is beyond me. I would dare say that that's not even logical.
