Gettis and Rivera....what's up with that?

Gettis and Rivera....

Anyone know any insider info on why Gettis didn't see the field much? And supposedly they got into it on the sidelines yesterday.

Rivera doesn't seem to have sympathy for injured players. (Otah, Hogan) I'm not saying who's right or wrong, but Gettis is young and probably doesn't want to permanently ruin his career before it really starts.

I think it may have more to do with Gettis feeling like he was ready for a few weeks now, and Rivera not giving him the opportunities he feels like he deserves. Not saying either is right or wrong, but we really could use Gettis' size and speed out there....

ok Joe Adams coughed the ball up... i can kind of understand that decision(although at this point, id go back to him)

but Gettis hasn't made those mistakes, hes been patiently waiting for his shot, looks great in practice from the little i've seen

why is this man not getting a chance?

I saw Gettis at one point late in the game bitching to another coach/trainer on the sideline, not sure who it was. I couldn't determine if it was over his snaps, or if he was complaining about the play on the field. Either way, you could tell he was pissed.

Seems to me Rivera still feels like he can play for his job and is unwilling to experiment with the 'could be's' of the team. He doesn't have the luxury of being able to focus on the long term development of players.

I get that, but it seems like Gettis would be a potential upgrade immediately.

    • What I love and hate about this team is it’s more filled with potential breakout players than ever before. JT, XL, Coker, Smith-Wade, Ikem, Trevin… and even Bryce are all guys I could legitimately see taking the next step. But the problem with having so many of those guys is that team success somewhat relies on them taking that step, and some are bound not to. That being said, I’m cautiously optimistic given our softer schedule, the way the offense clicked late last year, and the direction we finally have at GM, coach, and QB. Could see us as a sneaky playoff team.
    • Me, signing up for FanDuel Network, and then canceling FanDuel Network:
    • Smith-Wade for me. He has the path to some decent hefty snaps in Evero’s scheme. He held his own last year and improved as he continued to get snaps— If he makes some strides, could be a very capable nickel.  I agree with Sanders. Bryce had some trust in him that final Falcons game post crazy head-stand.  Bryce looked for him a lot that final game and made some critical catches to get us the W. Seems he’s put in major work so I’m hopeful about him.  Wallace will have an offseason under his belt. I like him a lot, was higher graded than most remember in his draft (I.e Brugler had him LB3/70 overall) but he isn’t as cerebral of an LB as we’re used to. I think he could thrive if we get D captain/film-junky type next to him— because right now that’s Jewell.  Still a bit cautious but love the talent. Rozeboom may snag some playing time from him if he’s still working out the kinks.
