Bill Polian Interview MNF Eagles game

care to summarize?

It's worth a listen. More than just Cam in there. Basically says Cam wasn't as successful last year as fans thought. He was a product of coaches being creative in his use catching the league by surprise. He was 6-10 but thought he was successful. He has never failed before at any level. Once the league adjusted to the O scheme Cam didn't.

Specifically mentioned our defensive line and Luke Kuechly as strengths of the team. And Charles Godfrey as well (that is sure to endear him to our fanbase).

Critical of the offensive line, and our offensive line and of especially of Cam. Said that defenses have caught up with him, and he needs to adjust and hasn't so far.

Someone else made a stupid comment about Cam being a failure because of the number of wins last year. IMO, blaming wins or lackthereof on one guy, even the qb is stupid.

Polian always talks down on the Panthers every time I hear him talk. If he actually knew what he was talking about he would know we don't run the same offense as we did last year. The only thing other teams look for is the read option which we all know has failed but Chud thinks otherwise.

Did you listen to the interview? He actually said quite a few positive things about us.

He was respectful and full of class. He answered every question directly and didn't dodge anything, except the one question that was not his to answer, which was who should be the next GM. It's a shame we parted ways with this guy. He is a winner everywhere he goes.

How did the league adjust when Chud changed our offensive scheme this year?

I did listen and I have listened to a ton of what he has said in the past. Polian does not like the Panthers and especially does not like Cam. He was on espn not to long ago bashing the Panthers and Cam while slurping Bob Griffin.

I do not want that man anywhere near this franchise ever again.

I don't agree about what he said about the coaching staff doing everything right vs the Bears, Falcons and Bucs to win.

The read option is killing are offense and Polian didn't even mention this, he seems to place the blame more on players then on the horrid play calling.

Well we should of wom those games.....even flawed coaching put us in position for those wins

    • I think the book has been fairly written on Darnold, and by and large stays true. He can be rattled by pressure, and will lose his composure. If a team can get to him and have something go wrong in the plan, the mistakes and errors will pile up. Rams have a better offense, Seahawks sport a better defense. Should be a good 1.
    • Not a defense of him...an understanding of the problem. (something you seem to be lacking right now) 🙄 Bryce in a Canales offense is not an example of a stylistic mismatch, but I can give you one if that helps. When he was playing for the Panthers, Cam Newton sat under OC's running Coryell type offenses. Newton had a big arm and was a strong runner. He fit into that sort of attack very well. Then he goes to New England, where at the time they were running an Earhardt-Perkins system (similar to WCO In a lot of what they do but very different terminology). The Patriot offenses back then were heavily based on timing and rhythm style passing, not something that Newton was especially well suited for. So he washed out at New England, not because he had poor ability (his abilities had been on display here on a regular basis) but because he didn't fit what they wanted to do with their offense. I always go back to Jeff Garcia as one of the prime examples of this issue. Garcia in a WCO looked like a world beater. Put him in any other scheme though...yikes!  So again, Young's issues here have nothing to do with any failure to mesh with Canales. Hell, is say Canales has actually done pretty well at adapting his system to who he has rather than trying to jam square pegs into round holes. Again, it doesn't take an elite level of football knowledge to get this. It's pretty basic. But if you're not even capable of understanding what the real problem is, how are you going to know you to find the right solution? 🤔
