Qoute from Richard Marshall(if someone else has already posted this, sorry)

"But I think we're going to be more physical this year. We're getting jams (on the receivers) more often.”

I hope this is true. I am so sick of seeing the receiver with a 10 yard cushion. We will find out come September.

I think the 10 yard cushion came from Trgos bend but dont break scheme. When you play far off you cut out the deep routes thus dont BREAK by not allowing big gains. The down side is you give up underneath routes. Im not a big fan of it my self.

It's gut wrenching to watch it get shredded when the opposition wants to move the ball in desperation mode without tossing it deep. The Giants game last year was one painful example. That kind of stuff can get fixed.

when i was in Greenbay 2 years ago I was sitting right behind the Panthers bench on the 1st row. I will never forget that the defense gave up a TD and marshal came over to the sideline right in front of me and lit into Jenkins and the other starters. HE WAS PISSED- Thats when I knew the kid was serious.

He is small, but he has a lot of fire, and is intense.

We got burned deep, short, on the side, up the middle...just about anywhere they wanted to throw on us, teams have been doing it.

Bumping, or no bumping. More than just the jamming at the LOS needs to be corrected in order to stop getting shredded on. Making a QB scared he is gonna be on his back 3 outta 4 plays is a GREAT way to start.

As a DC, Trgovac seemed to develop a fear of giving up big plays, one that grew worse over time. As you watch his schemes and their execution progress over time, they "bent" more and more and more until it was practically "do contortion and don't break".

Maybe as a DL coach he'll be more aggressive, but as a DC he was one of those guys for whom the fear of failure was so great that it actually wound up preventing success.

    • https://www.yahoo.com/sports/article/versatile-2nd-db-named-panthers-154026075.html Smith-Wade's ability to play corner, nickel and safety makes him valuable to a young defense trying to rebuild after finishing last in the NFL a year ago. "Chau took advantage of an opportunity,'' coach Dave Canales said. "He made tackles. He had an opportunity on an interception, and he made it.'' Our defense has got to come alive for us to have a chance of winning our Division!
    • lol, that second part is quite literally one of the dumbest things ever. Having or not having guaranteed contracts has absolutely nothing to do with how much these billionaires have to pay.  Because there is a hard cap and a minimum cap spend requirement, and teams either use their cap or roll it over to use it all the next year, so the owners have to pay the same amount of money in the end no matter what. Having fully guaranteed contracts in the NFL would only hurt salary cap management, and thus would end up screwing over the team and its fan base when teams kiss on signings as they take up cap room that is needed to improve the roster. Look at the Browns with Watson, they gave him the fully guaranteed deal and all it’s doing is sucking up massive cap space now.  If they hadn’t done that, the owner would still be paying the same amount of money each year as that cap space would still be used elsewhere. If you want to argue for fully guaranteed contracts because the players deserve it, that’s an entirely different argument and a fair one to discuss.  But anyone against fully guaranteed deals isn’t doing it to argue for the billionaire owners.
