One thing I fear. We beat the Raiders but lose to the Saints..

We destroy the Raiders, JR at that point thinks winning 3 in a row is "trending up" but we lose to the Saints and get a pass because "its ok, the Saints are tough in the dome anyway" so we get a free pass and finish 6-10 yet again and Rivera stays.

I cannot stress how important it is we ONLY keep Rivera if we go 7-9. Last year on Christmas eve we destroyed a 4 win Bucs team then got destroyed in New Orleans and ended up 6-10. If we lose to the Saints, all that will say is we havent improved whatsoever, it will just mean we are a middle of the pack, below average 6-10 team that can pull off an upset on occasion and destroy terrible teams but stuck in stand still and wont be elite.

I dont care how tough the Saints are in the dome, you think its unfair to have a HC's fate hinge on one single game? Tough luck! Ron should have thought of that before we lost 9 games. If we lose to the Saints, Ron needs to go no question.

The Saints game will be Ron's final exam. His final test, just like in High School, you fail the test you fail the year. If we beat the Saints that will show a true sign we have taken the next step, if we lose. That means 0 progress has been made and Ron fails.

Why is the amount of wins so important? I've harped on this but we should evaluate the coaching staff on decisions made on the field, how players have improved etc...

Just saying, oh he's 6-10, he should stay/go is very short sighted and leads to rash decisions.

This whole season was a giant step in the wrong direction. I look back and see a more competitive team last year then I do this year. The Offense has been a shadow of itself, and the defense has been bad bad bad. Letting Brady Quinn have a +100 QB rating is a testament of how bad they are.

Stop spending money on players.... And buy some coaches!! I want the CHIN.. I wanna WIN

Well the defense is ranked in the top half the league this year...

But the CHIN is IN !!

Losing to the Saints is unacceptable, even beating them Rivera should not be safe. Records do matter when your core and QB are there in place and you've used all your cap. Nothing left but to win.

Losing to the Chiefs should have been unacceptable too, as well as the Tampa Bay choke job. I'm not happy with the body of work, and getting amped up to beat an Atlanta team or finishing out a meaningless string of late-season games with nothing on the line but pride and some players job security doesn't do it for me.

We need to make a change. Someone who knows how to be an NFL head coach, not someone on another learning curve.

    • What's wrong with Damien Lewis? He played pretty well last year.
    • Official NFL Cuts Tracker Deadline for roster cuts is Tuesday, August 26th. At this moment (Friday, August 22nd) the only interesting names I see are... K Caden Davis (BUF) RB Ameer Abdullah (SF) WR Equanimeous St. Brown (SF) WR Donovan Peoples-Jones (NO) LB Khaleke Hudson (TEN) Abdullah, St. Brown, Peoples-Jones I don't exactly think we should cut anybody for but it was just interesting seeing those names. Khaleke Hudson was on the Panthers' practice squad last year I believe and might have even gotten called up? And of course, Caden Davis just because of the question mark at kicker this season for the team.
    • I'll say 6/10. I don't know that we learned a whole lot about this team during preseason that we didn't already know. We didn't play the starters enough to really get a feel for what to expect. We had one good drive against the Browns, one 3-and-out and two 3-and-outs against the Texans. That's an extremely small sample size across 3 games regardless of performance. My camp/preseason takeaways: Jalen Coker might be the best WR on this team and is certainly no worse than #2. Nic Scourton is going to be a good player for us. Possibly very good. Bobby Brown was our best free agent addition. Jack Plummer isn't an NFL QB. Not even a practice squad guy. Having anyone other than Canales and Evero call plays was a really stupid and pointless idea. Our depth is largely non-existent, especially on defense. The three areas we actually DO have depth are on the OL, in the WR corp. and at RB. I can't fathom why Dan Morgan didn't do more to upgrade ILB during the offseason. We better hope Lathan Ransom steps up at FS because if he doesn't we have a massive hole. For all the hype surrounding Sanders/Evans, Tommy Tremble is still the best TE on the roster. I'm only slightly less enthusiastic going into the regular season than I was a month ago. I think our starters on offense are solid and we should be pretty good there unless Bryce totally regresses. On defense, we're probably bottom 3rd in the league if 100% healthy and significantly worse than that if injuries become an issue. We badly need at least two of our rookies to become high-level players early (ideally one of the pass rushers + Ransom) and at least 2 of our free agent additions (ideally Moehrig + Bobby Brown) to be significant upgrades over last year. Call me pessimistically optimistic 😆
