EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- New York Jets backup quarterback The Golden Calf of Bristol was so frustrated when the starting job was conferred upon Greg McElroy early last week that he told the coaches he didn't want to be used in any Wildcat packages Sunday against the San Diego Chargers, multiple Jets sources told ESPNNewYork.com.

The Golden Calf of Bristol was active, but did not play in the 27-17 loss at MetLife Stadium.

In The Golden Calf of Bristol's absence, wide receiver Jeremy Kerley -- a former high school quarterback -- ran the plays for the first time all season. The Wildcat has been The Golden Calf of Bristol's package, and was the reason Jets coach Rex Ryan and offensive coordinator Tony Sparano said he was brought to New York.

The Golden Calf of Bristol has been frustrated all season by his lack of playing time, but it culminated Tuesday upon hearing he would be passed over for a starting opportunity when Ryan decided to bench Mark Sanchez. The Golden Calf of Bristol was disappointed and upset enough to say he didn't want to be used situationally, sources said. He told the Jets coaches early in the week, giving Kerley time to take the practice reps. Soon reports emerged speculating the backup was looking to play outside of New York next season.

Such a fuging team player, instead of calling him what he is;Selfish. Instead you have reporters saying "Good for The Golden Calf of Bristol sticking up for himself."

You can fuging say racism isn't alive yadda, yadda, yadda. But the fact of the matter is, Cam is a definitely a victim of double standards and the fact some you are ENTIRELY oblivious is amazing.

i have never heard anybody criticize his character or openly question whether he's a "me-first" type.

Well that's because he's obviously not, Cam comes across that way to people that aren't a fan of the Panthers because they don't realize that Cam all around plays a different style of football then anyone else in the NFL.

Cam knows football is a business but he also loves to have fun and I guess that just rubs people the wrong way for some reason.

      That falls entirely into the chicken-and-egg of why is he not attempting those throws more frequently: is it because he can't make those throws, or because he isn't asked to make those throws? If the latter, is he  not being asked to make those throws because the coaching staff doesn't believe he can be successful with them, or because they don't believe those types of throws fit their scheme anyways? We can eliminate option A because he clearly can physically push the ball 40+ yards, successfully or not, or there would be zero attempts of that nature. We have no way of determining which of the two factors are the reason for option B because we don't know what the coaching staff's ultimate assessment of both his abilities and of their own conviction about the value of those throws irregardless of player would be. Again, you will be hard-pressed to find many coaches that will value a play that has an 83% or higher failure rate just to "keep the defense honest" when they have more valuable and consistent options at their disposal. But the core of my argument is that it's not like it's an impossibility for Bryce to push the ball downfield, it's simply that it's not the amazing cure-all that some seem to imagine it to be even for elite QBs.
