A note on the GM search

Based on my research so far, it looks like we have some really strong candidates in the pipeline, even if we don't get our first choice.

I'm stopping a bit short of encouraged at cautiously optimistic pending how the coaching staff is handled.

I don't feel good about our chances of landing one of the excellent candidates if they're not given significant input on what to do with the coaching staff. Even if they would be inclined to keep him around for a year having that decision mandated for them might be a bit of a hurdle.

I think they'll have input on the coaching staff. In fact, I think it'll be their choice.

See, Richardson doesn't have to say "you have to keep Ron Rivera" or not. All he really has to do is not fire him and leave the ultimate decision to the new GM.

Beyond that though, just reading the backgrounds of some of these guys has me stoked :D

Good grief, Yasinskas has gotten bloody awful for Panther news and commentary since joining ESPN :wacko:

It's just the opposite. Whether he leaves or stays, the Panthers need to let that decision be up to the GM. They shouldn't make it for him.

Another note on keeping Beane would mean Rivera would be a lock to stay
