What has Rivera really proven?

These coaches your posting each had at least 3 years to prove themselves.

What coach has got fired in their 2nd year with an improve in their record?

Can't wait to see the Rivera haters when a thread about him officially coming back is made.

Those coaches I posted definitely deserved a third year, don't you agree? And why stop at a third year? Think of what they could have accomplished with 6 years!

Or maybe they were just bad coaches and it didn't matter how much time you gave them.

he'll have to do a whole lot more than just manage to keep from getting fired for any "haters" to look foolish.

he needs to do something other than have a losing season. did he improve the teams record? yes, and at this pace we may end up with a winning record...in 2014. maybe even a playoff spot in 2015.

good times. weeeeeeee..........

Yeah, I should try the whole "leap from thread to thread overstating my job responsibilities in a desperate attempt to sound like I know what the fug it is I'm talking about" approach to get my count up in the future.

What Rivera has shown is that he can adapt and learn as well as get his players to buy into his system and play inspired. Rivera never used the injuries as an excuse for struggling but stressed the positives and the next man stepping up. He has done a great job the past few games and has shown he is definitely worthy of keeping for another year.

i hope so because i really don't see him leaving.

i'll somehow turn into superhomer again heading into training camp, but i don't like his game management at the end of games. when the game is on the line and we have the lead (which has become common) he starts trying to protect the lead by allowing the opposing team to get the ball so that his defense can stop them. the only problem is that the rules have made it easy for big chunks of yardage to be given up in a very short amount of time through the air and teams have over and over found a way to do this against us.

the only safe place for the ball to be is in our offenses hands. a lead is not safe unless the clock strikes 00:00. you either keep putting points on the board or keep the ball in your hands. we've had too many close losses happen when we had the lead because our defense couldn't contain the other offense. yes, the defense should have stopped them. that's their job. the problem was that they shouldn't have been in that situation to begin with. but he's a defensive coach. it's his nature to trust defenses more. it's historically been a safe way to manage games. i just don't think it is effective game management anymore and i don't have faith that he'll get that.

Agree Razor.

RR does not seem to have a clue about how to run an offense. The running game for the most part has been terrible this year. Other teams seem to run the read option a lot better than we do. (Not trying to run it every play helps). The Panthers had to be the worst ever professional team at trying to run a 2 min offense. Cam seems to have very limited ability to change plays at the line. When games are close, RR's team plays defense with fear of losing instead of playing to win. The defensive strategy against the Bears at the end of the game was hard to understand and very painful to watch. His record in close games is just awful. Also, there are the little things.....like yesterday, having to call a TO to decide to try for a FG. (Instead of learning from his decision last year not to try for a FG at a crucial time....he seems traumatized by it.) There just does not seem to be progress in the 2nd year (except a few wins when the games were meaningless.....and the KC loss is another one that makes no sense if this team is "trending up.") They way year 1 ended seemed to have no carryover for the first half of year 2.

Rivera seems like a great guy, I just do not think he will be a great HC. I will be surprised if a new GM decides to give him another year.
