Rivera Black Monday News

I remember. We beat a Tampa team that had completely quit- 2 times, a horrible Indy squad and a Houston team with a rookie QB and finished getting blown out by the Saints. This year we beat Atlanta, destroyed San Diego on the road and finished by handling our business against the Saints. Our defense is really coming together too. The team this year down the stretch looks miles better to me than the team down the stretch last season. I will grant you that if we keep Rivera and he starts out poorly again next year or has a poor season overall, then it is time for him to go, but I want to see another season before starting over yet again.

look at the records of the teams we beat down the stretch this year.heck we lost to the chiefs at home

If they are going to have a "meeting" that makes me think he'll be back. I bet JR will just lay down the law, playoffs or bust. If we don't make the field of 12 next year he's done. I think if we were gonna fire him we wouldn't be talking about some "meeting."

It's a possibility.

But that said, Richardson is a "face to face" guy. He wouldn't fire Rivera by cell phone.

Surprised we haven't signed a GM yet! haha

Seriously, I do expect us to hire one before we make a decision on Rivera. Whoever the GM is, he is going to want to make the call on who HIS coach is. I think it would silly for Jerry to hire a GM and say, "this is your coach, deal with it!". He'll want whoever it is to have a clean slate.

Yes, we lost to an emotionally charged Chiefs team in their home. What is your point here?

fact is the chiefs suck.we also lost a few close games due to RR poor coaching skills.but i guess some are ok with being a few plays away every single year.its been around 4 years since we have made the playoffs i am sick of loosing

We also lost a few close games due to the players execution. Interceptions, fumbles, blown coverage, throwing the ball in the dirt at the goal line.

    • Yep he made the comment " I dont know what they were doing out there at that point" in the press conference. Let's be real they all got paid but they also know his system suppresses there offensive potential.
    • Yup the casuals on Facebook ive gotten 85 laughing or angry emojis so far for pointing it out.  The amount of them throwing a fit because the canes were booed is insane
    • Why are you so fixated on yards? Even if yards were a good judge of QB play, his low yardage totals in some of those games were partly a function of drops (looking at you Xavier Leggette…).  I’m not advocating that Bryce was elite for the last half of last year, but the eye test certainly supported high level QB play for large stretches. He made a lot of high difficulty, put it on the money/drop in the bucket throws. He converted on 3rd and 4th down, kept drives moving, and put the team in position to win games. And it’s not on him that the defense blew it late after he led game tying drives, Leggette dropped a game winning TD, or Chuba fumbled the ball in OT. We could have finished the season close to .500 with wins against 3 playoff teams including KC and Philly during that stretch largely due to Bryce’s play.    Has he sustained this level of play long enough to deserve an higher ranking? No. But for judging based in that stretch alone, he would. But whether he can perform more consistently at that level or build on that, and thus earns a higher ranking, remains to be seen.
