NFL.com mock drafts...

I dont care what position we shoot for. BPA is a must since we are gonna lose some key players during the restructure. Personally I dont expect us to be very good next season after we get rid of some starters.

What starters are we losing??

Remains to be seen, but somebody is gonna have to go for cap reasons. We are gonna have to get rid of a lot of cap money if we plan on signing anyone whether it is FA or draft. And as far as restructuring goes I doubt we do too much of that. It wouldn't be smart of the new gm if all he did in his first year was push all the cap money to his second or third. He will most likely use this offseason to fix the cap for the future. Of course this doesn't bode well for Rivera since it likely means that our team wont be improving very much.

I haven't really started looking into specific players but part of the draft is looking into long term needs. You can't always draft to plug an obvious hole. Sometimes you need to draft to fill a more important position for the future. To me that's Big Men and Touch Down Scorer. Or LT and WR. More specifically a tall Plaxico Burress type wide receiver. Cam badly needs a jump ball guy. Steve was actually really good at it in his prime but he's not as quick these days.

I'm just not a big fan of using a first round pick on a DT unless you are 100% on him. Think Haloti Ngata. Those guys have a pretty high bust rate and many times the 4th and 5th round guys end up being pretty good too.

You win in todays NFL with offense. I think Dave Gettle knows this and will draft accordingly.

Look up Eric Fisher LT (6'8 300 lbs) and Cordarrell Patterson WR (6'3 205 lbs).

Both top 2 prospects at their positions with loads and loads of potential.

Patterson could run low 4.3 high 4.2 at the combine.

We are going to go OLINE. With all the hints Gettleman and Rivera have been dropping, they have to have protecting Cam at the top of their minds and it just seems like they are wanting to to draft a great offensive lineman.

My mouth waters at the opportunity to draft Chance Warmack. Warmack would help our line pave the way to a top 5 rushing offense , which should open up things in the oppositions secondary. I am hoping this addition will get us back to top 5 scoring too.

I can see it now!!! Play action bombs to Gettis and Murphy with Smitty finally working underneath burning slow linebackers and safeties.

Seriously he needs more protection.

I don't think so. Yes we will lose one solid leader and starter( probably Gamble) but the rest of the cuts will not be as monumental when you start restructuring the remaining contracts.

Possibility we lose D-Will too but I really don't think cutting him creates a win-win for us. Trading that contract is unlikely too. Unless it is for maybe a 5th rounder.

I think we go free agency or trade for a proven WR. Many teams have the same cap problems we and will have to let some good players go just like we do. Gettleman might make a deal with a team who needs

a MLB (Beason) or a CB (Gamble) for a WR (Hakeem NIcks). It would give us a better position to draft

players of need in our draft (OL and DL)

Sad thing is that I expect Warmack to be off the board at least at Tennessee's #10 pick.
