  1. 1. Perfect world; Position you'd address in round round 1

Of course its easy to say BPA regardless of position or at a position if need. This is more of a perfect world thing kind of like Cam being there when we needed a QB in the worst way.

Just assume their's a player rated a "90" and projected perennial all pro at any position you want, which position would you take in this scenario?

Personally I am going WR. The other needs we have don't represent the same value as finding a true # 1. Been discussed in other threads 1k yard receivers don't grow on trees and only roughly half the QB's in the league are fortunate enough to have one. I don't even hate Lafell, I like him for what he is. However it is what it is and he's not likely to grow into a above average # 1 based off what we've seen so far I think his ceiling would be reaching a Moose type level(which would be phenomenal when paired with an a stud # 1). You have to admit its been nice having Smith all these years and not being burdened with having to trying to find a # 1.

I understand the argument for a LT for Cam but personally I'd rather keep Gross and trust him to hold down LT for at least 1-2 more years. This would also give Bell a make or break year to earn the RT spot long term.

I would be fine with a DT or FS rated this highly as well as they are the most glaring holes on our roster right this second.

Looking at avaialble free agents I think we can find DT,FS,O-line help if need be there to at least hold us over for 1 more year. Conversely I see no receiver we can afford who would be much better than Murphy was last year.

Anyway I just wanted to hear some varying opinion's on this so let me hear em.

ideally we'd address RG and RT in FA, redo gamble and gross deals for cheap so we don't have to go through the hassle of trying to replace them, sign canty, switch out ron edwards for dwan, and then draft WR and FS in the first couple rounds.

that's my ideal anyway.

Im in awe how many people want WR

WR is the last position you want in this draft, in the first. Yeah we are in desperate need of a WR but that's when you make mistakes is when you are desperate. Lets protect our franchise QB and get the best O Lineman available

He said assume there is a player rated 90 at each position.

    • If we don't go OT, we will regret it.  What bothers me?  Are we going to get a starting-caliber OT at 19?  I think the draft is solid at OT, and the more I read up and watch video, the more I watch Lomu, the more I want him.   I see Freeling as a RT who needs some work in run blocking (since we need to run first, maybe not a good fit) and I see Proctor ending up as a Guard.  After Lomu (assuming Mouigia and fanu are gone), I think we wait until round 2.  In round 2, there are about 3-4 I like (Zuhn--good pass blocker and VERY underrated right now; Tiernan is a very good pass blocker as is Miller from Clemson, but both are not good in the run game.  Max Ixxxxx from Ariz St is impressive too---technically, there is not a of difference in these second tier guys--good in pass pro, need work in the run game.   If we wait until round 2 for an OT, we probably need to sign Nijman and start him early.   I almost think this is what we should do if Lomu is gone.  There is a big dropoff after him, imo, and I think we'd get better value if a stud ILB or edge is there.  Someone like TJ Parker Clemson makes sense. If Lomu is gone, trading back might be the play.
    • And what is x gunna help with except show him what not to do. Plus for the first year and a half he was just an obstacle
    • I understand that some people want WR. I am solidly against using yet another high pick there. Coker is pretty good and we used No picks on him.  What I think we really need at WR is a little bit of a Smitty lite. It is ridiculous to say let’s get a Smitty because you just can’t do that, but someone not tall and long striding but more in his mold. I think we’d have a pretty well rounded group.    Looking at tackle, with replacing Moton looming, it just seems like the no brainer.  You fill in Icky short term. Depending on how he recovers, and how the new guy plays, you go from there. A tackle at 19 is most likely either a LOT, a ROT, or a big talented guard, at worst. We will need all three in the next couple of years.  I would love to have a stud ILB be there at 19 but the OL is the responsible thing to do I believe.
