Why would Cam Newton want to stay here?

I think Cam will be in the same boat as Lebought James. He will try to be the center piece of a championship team and if that doesn't happen, he'll look to jump to a contender. Nothing against Carolina or anything like that...but pro athletes that are good and know they are good...they want to win too.

Answer is easy.

Cam Newton plays in no one cares about us Carolina. His every move is still under a microscope. I think Cam farted...let's now discuss this on ESPN for two days and talk about how his fart was a symbol of how he feels about the backup punter. He is a monster!!!

Put Cam in a market people naturally follow....and his life will be an utter hell unless he is in the mix for a Superbowl each year.

Cam has always talked about how he wants to be great. We don't have poo for players around him and we won't be able to get any with our cap situation. It has ruined us for the next 2 seasons leading up to the end of his contract.

Why would he want to sign a contract with a team that isn't able to get any better? I sure hope the next two years of draft picks pan out because that's our only way of acquiring players.

He doesn't have to WANT to stay here at the end of the day we won't give him the choice and he would get TAGGED.

If I were a professional athlete playing in a city with poo poor fans like yourself.....I would probably leave too.

God how the Huddle has reached an all time low.

We now make the Falcon, Bucs, and Saints boards look fantastic.

I used to think the saints board was bad or even the Vick era falcons board...

But I'll be damned if the level of moronic bandwagon fans hasn't destroyed all intellectual football conversation on here.....

Cam has a chance to start a legacy here. To be a franchises first true franchise QB and superbowl winner. There's a lot of pride a player would take it that. We are also going to pay him a retarded amount of money. This franchise has also shown that it's willing to do whatever it takes to give Cam what he needs to succeed. We are building a team to fit him.

Also, this has to do with the legacy thing but Cam has the opportunity to flip the Carolina Panthers into one of the trendiest teams in the league if he succeeds. We would become the hornets of the NFL.

If something doesn't change (great coaching, great FA, wins) its gonna cost us our entire salary cap to keep him!

I mean he can probably play most positions but man he will be tired... :phew: joking aside, it may take too much unless our Tradition changes here and we step it up, the organization is better than this and they need to show it!

I salivate over the absurd amount of draft picks it would take to pry a franchised Cam Newton from Don Gettleman.

I don't know...I think we all assume we know Don better than we do.

That is Don QBs Should Pass Not Run Gettleman. Cam doesn't seem like the obvious pairing. That is why I am 1000000% pulling for Rivera this year. Keep Rivera....Keep Cam. That, I feel confident in. Cam just needs to win on for the Chico.

I think Don Gets is a football guy and respects football players who make plays.

But I do see your point.

Just for the sake of argument, let's say Cam wanted out as soon as possible. He knows the team can hang onto him for 7 years. Meanwhile, following his 3rd year he has an offer on the table for $110 million with say $45 million or more guaranteed. His agent wants him to sign too so he gets his cut. Do you really think he's going to keep turning down big money and wait 4 years just to be able to go wherever he wants?

I don't see it.

Especially since he could get hurt before ever getting that contract if he waits.

    • @PantherChrisgrow the fug up.  We read you whine and bitch about so much all the time, let someone have their own take on things instead of being a petulant child.
    • Florida is the only team that would be doing that to us, and it happens when we are down Chatty, Walker isn't 100% and our top players are being molested in plain view on the ice. Florida is bigger and just as fast as we are, they have the two biggest agitating arseholes in the NHL in Marchand and Tkachuk, have a solid coach and a lot of nice pieces that make that team the best in the East by a good margin this year and possibly back to back Cup champions.  I fail to mention Zito who has been aggressive in getting Marchand and Seth Jones plus other players at the deadline to fill in any weaknesses. We have taken the long term, we have a shot every year approach and keep coming up short.  This is the summer to come away with the last needed pieces and if that takes sacrificing some prospects and picks we have to do it.  We have Freddie who is a very good goalie, but I still think young Kooch needs more time - he shows flashes but he still isn't right between the ears yet. This is definitely it for Orlov, not sure about Burns although he has looked it the last half of the season.  It would be nice to be able to get rid of KK somehow.  Svech has never become the guy I thought he'd be so a pure scorer would be nice.  I still like where this organization is EVEN with RBA coaching.  Do we discredit everything the guy has done in years where we weren't supposed to make the playoffs let alone win some series etc??  We need a bit more size, but I like we added Walker, Carrier, and Robinson who all had some good experience and didn't mind showing some grit.  Who's Back:    Forwards:  Aho, Svech, Jarvy, Blake, Hall, Carrier, Staal, Marty, Stankoven (need to sign to a bridge at least), KK  (really need to trade him this summer or next year for sure, his NMC kicks in 26-27) Defensemen:  Slavin, Walker, Chatty, Ghost, Nikishin, Morrow Goalies:  Freddy, Koochy Potential: Forwards:   Nadeau (he was like a -20 in Chicago so he'll have to really earn Rod's trust), Robidas, FUS didn't have a great season, Bring back Roslovic?, Jost for cheap?? Defensemen:  Technically Nikishin and Morrow, but I have them replacing Orlov and Burns above, Honka, Probably will sign one who plays good D and doesn't break the bank Goalies:  Khazheyev?, Sign one possibly?? tl;dr:  Bottom line is we are definitely going to need to sign a Defenseman or two, and 2-3 Forwards with 2 being scorers and hopefully taller than 6'0".  We have really good depth at forward, we are thinning out at D, and our goalies.....I am just not sure.
    • You never really know when a team is going to turn a corner and make a deep playoff run.  I say take a swing, this could be like Tillman in 2015
