Keenan Allen to work out with panthers April 9

If he shows that he has recovered from his knee injuries and doesn't sh!t the bed on speed drills, I would be happy with him at 14. He is very polished for an NFL WR already, great hands and a do-it-all receiver. In watching highlights of him, he does have the ability to pull away from defenders with his speed, though it's not the "combine-warrior" sub 4.4 40 times that everyone drools over. When it comes to drills, the shuttle and cone drills, IMO, are a better indicator of NFL speed than the flashy media darling 40. I find it hard to believe that a player that isn't fast would be returning kicks and running as many drags and quick hit plays as Allen had to at Cal. His YAC was big and he showed that extra gear on special teams and reverses. His ability to shield defenders properly with his body and make the catch in traffic is huge. For me, Allen, Hopkins and Rogers are my 3 faves in the draft and would be happy with any of these three. Allen reminds me of players like Reggie Wayne and Michael Crabtree. I think if Allen puts on a show at his pro day, he will be the new hot name that is back in the mix for the #1 WR off the board. All of this is moot though if he looks sluggish or that he has any further issues from the injury.

It's funny that I provide stats (actual stats, numbers you can look up and compare to other numbers) and you provide your opinion and call that stats.

That's the funny poo right there.

It's not an opinion if it actually happened. Not my fault you can't see it.

I like Austin a lot. But the way I see it, we just signed our return man. Our WR core isn't exaclty physically imposing. Our we going to run into the same problems of last year when we face physical corners? I don't think Austin is groomed enough to handle that.

I'd want Patterson, Hopkins, or Hunter.

You do know that the statistics you provided doesn't tell everything. It's a worthless statistic to keep and try to back it up that a receiver like LaFail has the better hands out of the NFCSouth.

All it is telling is that when Lafail "do" get open, he's a pretty reliable guy to throw to. He catches most of the balls thrown his way (mostly body catches) when given the opportunity. The problem is, LaFail doesn't get enough separation! You cant be a good receiver in this league if you cant get open. I dont care how good your hands are. Stevie Johnson and Mike Wallace hands arn't the best, but what makes them able to go out most every Sunday and compete? They can create space and get open! You get it now??

Everyone is wrong about LaFell except KKL.

KKL post a stat about catch percentages. Don't you see, LaFell has the best hands in the NFL.

I about hang myself when I saw that he had better hands than Smitty.

I wanna know who have the better hands between Lafail and Golden Tate. "Both body catchers".

You have to be able to read the stat to call it worthless or not. Which you can't do since you keep saying that Lafell has the best hands in the south comment. Which the article nor the stat said.

Then the stupid part your "body catch" comment is laughable. You don't know poo about football and should stop posting.

You are really hitting Chuck level as a fuging moron.

At what point did the article say that Lafell had the best hands in the NFL? Show me that??

Kool "Things that obviously happen on the football field aren't stats." Kat "My numbers are 100% accurate every else is wrong about LaFell" Luke.

Like seriously anoyone who watched the games/seen LaFell's career and if you haven't seen it well I can't help you.

Kkl slots are supposed to be sure handed....that's why i always thought Lafell was a possession guy. Also PFF says that Lafell ran more of his snaps from the slot. It's nothing wrong with being a slot imo, it's just that the Panthers need a deep threat.

What happened on the field??? When targeted he caught the ball. On most plays he is the 3rd option behind Smith and Olsen. He has improved every season in the league. Stats say all of this. All you have is a opinion.

    • overall agree on the draft grade as a whole on on each pick, but every time I read (and I have read it more than once) that we "gave up two firsts" for Bryce, I am confused. We gave up the 2024 first, but we swapped 2023 firsts, so we didn't give up anything there. We did give up our former first rounder in DJ, but I don't think thats what you mean as one of the "firsts" we gave up.
    • Didn't  see this posted (since 2023) but since folks have been posting that you can't judge a draft class for three years (a ridiculous take), I thought I'd post this to see what people thought about the 2023 draft. Unfortunately this may not be the most interesting class to do this with but I do quite like retrospective draft grades. Would appreciate other's takes on this (and other recent) draft classes.   1(1) - Bryce Young QB: I am a bigger Bryce Young apologist than most (maybe all). I like the kid. But there is no way around it: This was a terrible pick. If he had been picked in the 4th or even the 3rd round I would feel pretty good about it. But this was the first overall pick that we gave up two firsts, our best offensive player to get.  GRADE: C -    2(39) - Jonathan Mingo WR: not much to say here here. He was here for two years. His yards per catch are on par with Bryce's yards per pass. Rough stuff. To date he has still never scored a touchdown in the NFL GRADE: F   3(80) - DJ Johnson OLB: a pick I hated as soon as it happened and an example of why the premise of this thread is honestly dumb. This was a bad pick when it happened. Most people knew it.  Then came training camp and he did not look good. Then came the preseason which confirmed what we saw in TC. Then came the season which confirmed what we saw in preseason. To date, he has half a sack in his career. GRADE: F 4 (114) Chandlers Zavala G: Honestly the best pick of this draft which really speaks to how awful this draft is. Other than Bryce, the only pick still on the team. He is mostly average or below average depth which in round 4 is not terrible. But he had a pff score of 43.5 and though I think people have unrealistic expectations for draft picks, I still would want a little more from a fourth round pick GRADE: C+   5 (145) - Jammie Robinson S: I liked the pick when it happened but ended up being a disappointment. He logged 1 tackle with the falcons last year and not enough snaps to get a grade on PFF.  GRADE: F OVERALL DRAFT GRADE: F
