visits and workouts

Great job. Definitely covering our basses.

Worked out a lot of WR's. Surely that's not a smokescreen. ;)

Interesting though that we haven't really looked at much DT's except Short. Unless I missed it.

Where was Keek in this same process last year? Did we work him out a couple times? Meet with him after bowl games and at combine?

We had a private workout with Kuechly and Amini. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/03/29/2012-draft-visits-and-workout-tracker/

STEDMAN BAILEY@iamSB3

Charlotte, NC bound today. Taking my first official team visit. Where do you guys think I'm going???

D.J. Fluker - T - Crimson Tide

The Baltimore Sun's Aaron Wilson reports Alabama OT D.J. Fluker has met with four teams.

The four teams are the Baltimore Ravens, New England Patriots, Minnesota Vikings and Carolina Panthers. All of the teams could have legitimate interest in Fluker, whether it's at guard or tackle. There have been concerns about Fluker's ability to play on the edge but he appears to have the talent to be a quality right guard

Gavin Escobar - TE - Aztecs

Draft Insider Tony Pauline reports San Diego State TE Gavin Escobar will visit with the Philadelphia Eagles, Cleveland Browns and Carolina Panthers.

Escobar was once called an "F-type" tight end by former Kansas City Chiefs G.M. Scott Pioli, which implies that Escobar is a "move" tight end. Escobar does a good job of catching the football but there are concerns over his ability to consistently separate from defensive backs and linebackers at the next level

more........

According to a report by Scout.com's Aaron Wilson, the Panthers officially met with Notre Dame safety Zeke Motta last Friday.

http://www.derp/2013/4/8/4197698/2013-nfl-draft-notre-dame-safety-zeke-motta-visited-carolina-panthers

Clemson WR DeAndre Hopkins is visiting with the Panthers today. He's already had a private workout with WRs coach Ricky Proehl.

As the pre-draft process continues the Carolina Panthers are meeting with LSU outside linebacker Barkevious Mingo, according to Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press. Seen as a 3-4 rush linebacker or possibly playing the leo linebacker role in a 4-3, it's hard to see where he fits in Carolina's plans.

    • Oh for those tired of the Mannings I have bad news, Peytons son Marshal already has college teams after him and he isn't even in HS until this fall...   I'd wager we have two Mannings in the NFL in 2030
    • Push em to the brink!!! Shut em down Freddie!
    • I tend to look at all of these guys and wonder how committed they are to doing special teams? It's a big deal when you're fighting for roster spots. And we need massive refreshes to all phases of the special teams game. And the idea that four or five of these players could see rotational use outside of special teams would be a win. This team has accumulated quite a bit of dead wood over the last five years and its time to take an axe to some of it. These new fellows have a shot to benefit from that if they can really push. That being said, wow that receivers room is crowded right now. I'm not sure if I was a vet player with more than 2 years experience other than Adam Thielen if I'd be too sure of my future here. Tet is guaranteed a spot, Coker earned his for sure and they aren't done with XL developing yet. That's only two to three spots left for the entire room. It's going to be very competitive and better for Bryce's future, too. Safety and linebacker are the opportunity spots here this season. There's room for the right guy and we may see a starter eventually from one of these UDFAs, either by merit or injury.
