WalterFootball 2014 NFL Mock Draft

Recommended Posts

I'm a big fan of the Draft so I am always keeping up with prospects and the next year draft. This is for the guys like me that are a big fan of the Draft.

Charlie Campbell's Mock

He have us picking no.12 overall, but it's a pretty good draft imo.

(2014 Needs: WR, CB, OT, SS, OLB)

(12) Louchiez Purifoy, CB Florida
(I hate to see that he have us passing on Sammy Watkins (13: Colts), but I'm not upset with this pick)

"Purifoy has displayed some man-coverage skills to be a good cornerback. The 6-foot-1, 189-pounder has an elite combination of size and speed to be a potential man corner in the NFL. He is also extremely physical and plays with a swagger.

Purifoy had a breakout season in 2012, recording 51 tackles, five passes broken up and three forced fumbles. The Gators' defensive scheme largely left him on an island in man coverage, yet he maintained good defense. The sophomore was also excellent on special teams. Purifoy was a backup corner and special teams contributor in 2011. The freshman chipped in 27 tackles and a forced fumbles, too.

Purifoy is so fast and such a dangerous play-maker that the Gators are planning on playing him on offense at wide receiver as well as at cornerback in 2013. Florida says he will play more corner than anything, but if the Gators' young receivers don't step up, Purifoy will be prepared to for double duty." - Charlie

(44) Jordan Matthews, WR Vanderbilt

(I'm a big fan or Matthews. It would be a big surprise for me to see us grabbing him in next year 2nd. He would fill one of our biggest need next year and would be a nice target for Cam toward the future)

"Carolina lands its long-term No. 1 receiver for Cam Newton.

Matthews (6-3, 200) was excellent for the Commodores in 2012, making 94 receptions for 1,323 yards and eight touchdowns. He contributed to Vanderbilt almost upsetting South Carolina in the season opener. The junior showed nice quickness with a 78-yard touchdown on his way to eight total receptions for 148 yards and the score.

Matthews also played well against Florida with eight catches for 131 yards and a touchdown. He finished the regular season strongly, going over 100 yards against Ole Miss, Tennessee and Missouri.

Matthews totaled 41 receptions for 778 yards and five touchdowns as a sophomore in 2011. He has a nice combination of size and speed." - Charlie

I'd be upset if we missed/passed on Watkins, but mah gawd, Purifoy is a man. He has the talent to be better than every cornerback that has come out in the last five years. Better than Peterson, Claiborne, Kirkpatrick, all of them. He's on-par with Sherman as far as skill level goes, and might even be better.

if that's the case, he won't be there when we pick.
