Chance The Rapper

He makes some alright music to bump in the car when you just don't give a poo, but substance? Not there.

I find myself listening to older rap and lesser known artists (know a few). Mainstream all sounds the same.

This is just plain wrong. He has some of the deepest substance out in mainstream rap right now,

...and many more. The guy is probably one of the deepest rappers out right now when it comes to overall concepts and substance in his projects. Even his more mainstream songs, such as "Swimming Pools" serve a purpose as actually speaking out against alcoholism (seriously, listen to the lyrics). Not sure what made you come to the conclusion he has no substance.

He's never actually given him a listen if he said that. Section 80 was by far one of the most powerful albums lyrically since the old school days. That whole album was about rising above your circumstances, stop blaming society for your problems and go make something of yourself.

That was nearly a year ago. I've listened to his newer work, I like it, the guy is talented, never argued otherwise. Point is, the majority of mainstream hip hop/rap artists are all either rapping, or talking about the same things. Kendrick seems to be trying to separate himself though.

I think using Swimming Pools as an example may not be the best idea.

All I know is that Kendrick Lamar with Imagine Dragons stole the show last night at the Grammys. They were incredible.

I forget how to embed youtube videos (someone tell me please) but...

K.Dot and Imagine Dragons was good, but anyone who says it was better than Pink's performance is just lying to themselves.

However, how Kendrick didn't win a single category, especially Best Rap Album, is absolutely beyond me.

As for Kendrick, if you don't realize how great he is as a hip-hop artist, you're obviously not listening hard enough.

Before listening to the entirety of the album, I too thought he was good but really overrated for a while. You can't just listen to the singles without the context of the entire album though.

GKMC is a concept album, a life in the day of a young Kendrick living in Compton. If you listen to the album, from start to finish with all of the intro and outro commentaries, you will get it. You'll understand his brilliance as a lyricist, a storyteller, a creative mind, and an artist.

I dunno....I am a huge fan of Pink but she did the same exact thing a couple years ago at the Grammys and does it all the time at her shows. The first time I saw it and for her not to be lip syncing I was really impressed. This time I was like...yeah that is impressive but I've seen it before.

I just really liked the Imagine Drangons and Kendrick but I see your point also.

    • Yup. Hopefully  Brandon adds some muscle this off-season but he'll probably be resting his shoulder for a while so I doubt it. Miles should probably be replaced but I don't think we find a better 4th option to be honest. So is it better to add depth along side williams and Coby or try to upgrade the 4/5 . I think adding depth will probably be more beneficial than trying to upgrade starters and bank on Brandon and Kons continuing development. I really don't think they are going to make the playoffs unfortunately. I think the big hole they put themselves in has exhausted them. They've been amazing since January 1 but I think it's come at a cost and their legs are gone.
    • The issue is the predictability of it all in a Bryce Young led offense. In 4th down attempts the Jets were at 41 and we were at 40. And we were 4th in conversation %. We were 25th in the league in 3rd down conversion because we faced so many 3rd and longs in part due to playcalling on 1st and 2nd down but more largely due to the limitations that cannot be overcome.  And people want us to spend another 1st rounder on WR as if it is going to magically give Bryce physical talent he will never possess. It's a shame we cut off our own nose just to put ourselves in this frustrating predicament.
