Hornets Art Concept

looks more like the old WNBA Charlotte Sting logos than the Hornets... Do not want... bring back the old Hugo logo 100%... don't cut any F'in corners... I want the old logo, old pin stripe uni's, and I want the old hornet crowd meter back in the arena that lights up and has the neon dribbling Hugo logo to reward the crowd for getting loud and proud.

and while I am a little heated... if we substitute Carolina Blue for Teal in the new color scheme, I will only be purchasing Hornets gear circa 2002.

Does anyone expect the logo to look anywhere close to the old Hornets logo? For that matter even the jersey's?

If you expect the same logo, your being silly. It's why I thought the Hornets thing was silly to begin with. The jersey's are going to be completely different, the colors are going to be updated and changed as well.

Just imagine the Bobcats' current colors altered just a bit. Dark purple and teal mixed with the dark blue, gray and orange. That color change was done for a reason. lol

So I wouldn't be surprised if they went with something more updated and edgier for the new logo, just don't expect the old pinstripes teal and bright purple to be completely back.

I do not think anything is set in stone and I do not think that it is far-fetched to think that they will try to return to original logos and/or color schemes.

You don't invest in research teams and studies that conclude the name change will be desirable and profitbable in the city, make the announcement public to get everyone pumped, and then decide to bring back a modified version of what everyone wants.

I expect there to be subtle differences with the new Hornets brand as they come back, and I understand that you will never be able to match the atmospehere of the old Charlotte coliseum due to the sheer size in comparison with TWC arena, but to think that they decided to make this change and completely overhaul the old Hornet image is "silly"

those colors basically are the colors they had last year

Yep, it sure is. MJ never said he was going to use the old Hornets colors. He hasn't made up his mind on to use them or not, but I expect them not to use them or they will slightly incorporate them into the current colors. Like replacing the current blue with a closer to teal shade.

Not really, they've set out to redesign the logo and uniforms. MJ has said he hasn't decided to use the old colors or not. BTW, they are seriously outdated now. It's much more likely that the new logo is completely redone and that the colors are modernized then to think they use seriously outdated colors and just slight tweaks to an already really old logo.  Btw, I don't like the logo in the OP. I just don't expect the same colors or logo. I've never expected the old logo even with just slight tweaks. I've never expected the old colors either.

I mean check out the back drop behind MJ in the press release or the Back the Buzz site, it's got the current colors mixed in there.

The blue on the back the buzz part of the Bobcats site is a different shade. (it's the blue from the bobcats logo, btw)

Everything they've shown so far indicates them changing the colors, even MJ said they wouldn't go full out with the colors and logo.

At the same time, the new Hornets can't appear to be a simple copy of the earlier incarnation. As Jordan noted, some teal and purple lettering does not mean the franchise will adopt the same look, and that would be a mistake. This management team needs to create something that can work in the future, not just a cute bit of nostalgia.

    • I encourage you to go back and watch his college play. Notice how he immediately backpedals to 10 yards behind the LOS on almost every snap. You can't do that in the NFL. Your OTs have no chance of keeping those freak show edge rushers off of you. You can't create a pocket that deep. If you drop back like that in the NFL on a regular basis you're basically on your own. Your OL can't do a whole lot for you. Bryce can chuck it when he has an airport runway in front of him to step up into. There's a reason why "ease of generating velocity" is such a talking point evaluating QBs. It's not how hard or how far you can throw the ball given a perfect situation. It's how hard and how far you can throw the ball in a typical NFL game situation and that's where a lot of my concerns with Bryce were going into the draft. There were way too many plays in his college tape that if you were watching that purely in terms of translating it to the NFL it just didn't work.
    • Yeah, like I said I get it. From a revenue perspective I'm not a good customer for them. They've probably intentionally tanked offline franchise mode to try to get people online. Again, not a terrible strategy from a pure business perspective. I can't really be mad at them for doing what's good for business but yeah, from my perspective it still sucks.
    • Ok let me be more specific. Smith was a stud before Newton got here do you not agree? Yes, LaFell improved under Cam but then had his best years after leaving the Panthers with Cam as the QB and going to NE. So he improved playing with someone else. Olsen was in Chicage the year before Cam arrived and statistically had the same numbers his first year with Cam.  Hope that's clearer for you.
