Could Hardy be holding out?

answer my question.

None...bc we have had any yet.

How many vague excuses have been given for any starter from last year being a no show at the voluntary practices?

Again, not a big issue. Just makes you realize Hardy is a window where many choose to make a business move....and maybe it could be tied to that

he's missed two OTAs. two. just two. that's all. why would he be going at all if he was going to hold out?

people reading way too much into it, but hey....you got to get your drama somewhere.

You aren't holding out when you miss voluntary workouts.  He has a secure spot and isn't fighting for a job.  Could he be sending a message?  Yeah.  But unless he holds out of a mandatory mini-camp this week, he is not doing anything that he isn't entitled to do.  Truth is that right now he has no leverage and would be foolish to sit out. Then again he isn't known for being too cerebral and it has been intimated that he isn't exactly a conventional thinker to put it mildly.

his leash is probably looser than others on the team. they know he puts in the work. they know he knows his job. that's all that really matters. not all children or employees or people have to be handled the same way. lt doesn't matter if he misses a day or two of VOLUNTARY workouts or really misses much in mandatory workouts...which he's done nothing to show he's likely to do.

just too much being read into this.

Maybe he suddenly realized he was risking his body....and thought differently.

Maybe he wanted to show how good he was (and go too hard)....to give the coaching staff one last taste....and then sits.

Maybe he had explosive diarrhea and sat.

Again, I wouldn't call it drama. Even if he had attended and you where forced to make a list of guys most likely to holdout (even though none stood out).....he would have to be first on that list.

coaches may have pulled him and told him to take the week off after watching him tear into some scrubs?

Steve Smith goes harder than anyone. He is more irreplaceable and older.

That could of happened....but I doubt he was told he shouldn't be at OTAs bc he goes to hard

I believe he deserves a fair contract and will get it. He's a signifigant piece of the puzzle and that's why most of us fans are nervous concerning his future. But I'm sure the panther staff has the same concerns. The team doesn't want him to go. The fans don't want him to go. & it seems that he don't want to go either. So if taking it easy in the off seasons more his style. Then give him some space. He always seems to show up when he's needed. So I'm considering this thread a non-issue.

    • Canales up first. Guys got their legs back yesterday and started a little slow when they came out Bryce challenged them in the huddle and they responded "Dominant practice for the defense today." Praised turnovers, "beautiful hits," and being physical Praised Moehrig, Ransom, Incoom, and Jones II Confirmed playing starters. Predominantly a young team and can't pass up an opportunity. Emphasized game day routines such as nutrition, body readiness, etc. Plus it's a bunch of new guys on the defense. Bryce will start. Will play them the first two, but starters might sit for the third game depending on how practice goes that week. Nic Scourton has a mild hamstring that happened in special teams. DJ Johnson had an issue with his hip flare up and is getting checked out this afternoon. Experimenting with approach to preseason games. In Seattle they played their starters in all but the last preseason game and what Pete Carroll was looking for in terms of mental readiness to play football. Thomas Incoom has been getting a lot of work with AC Carter adding to his toolbelt. Getting better as a rusher and being physical in the run game. Looking for a consistency in response. 1pt for a win, 3pts for a TD. Defense doesn't like that, but in games if they give up one go ball the score can swing. They challenged the pass game and the run game today. Guys are getting together before, between, and after team drills to challenge each other Job of the coaching staff to set the foundation for our schemes, philosophy, and expectations of what it's like to play Panthers football. Powerful when players take that and the locker room owns it. That's when it becomes our team, their team. At the end of the day, the men on the field have to rebound from a bad play, celebrate the good plays, and keep each other in tune for a whole game. Robert Hunt is amazing. Size, talent, quickness, flexibility. Really intelligent guy that there will say himself there are technique things he needs to work on. Regardless of where players are at, there's a constant learning curve and loves that Big Rob is challenging himself with the position coach. Thinks the digital down and distance can be really valuable. Getting the information quickly will help with the flow of the game. Thought TMac looked great but there were some near misses that he'll have to get in the room and communicate with Bryce on while reviewing film. James Mitchell keeps doing right and his trust factor is increasing with the QBs. If you're right and the coverage says the ball goes there, it'll come. Had some issues at the start of camp but is trending up. Newton or Person: "It looked like today was beyond thud but short of live. What do you call that?" Canales: "No, that's thud. In my mind, that's what thud should look like. The challenge for our defensive guys is can you put your body in a position where we know that would've been a tackle." Whizzing by, tagging with two hands, etc doesn't show you whether you would've made a tackle. That's not real football. Let's the play extend because guys have to be ready to chase sometime where the ball squirts out from a pit. Can't train to say "Ah, it was a tackle" and relax but instead play with intensity through the whistle. Lathan Ransom is bringing the physical style of play that they saw on film. Has been really into the details and someone that they can count on. Has really given himself a chance to start at the other safety position. Excited for the extra energy from a game-like environment that they'll get from FanFest. Used to have four preseason games and now FanFest feels like that first one. Will give ST full speed reps to evaluate. Making plays and feeding off of the fans. Window closed quickly on the INT to finish practice. CSW baited Bryce with some movement and made a great play. Saw it from Bryce's perspective with TMac coming open. Has played all over the secondary that they can count on to speak loudly and be on the same page with his teammates.
