The Boone Police Department on Sunday released the names of a child who died at a Boone hotel Saturday and his mother, who was injured.

Police are still investigating the cause of death of 11-year-old Jeffrey Lee Williams of Rock Hill, S.C., and an injury that hospitalized his mother, 49-year-old Jeannie Williams of Rock Hill, at Best Western Plus Blue Ridge Plaza.

Sgt. Shane Robbins of the Boone Police Department said Sunday that he does not have a time frame on the autopsy report for Jeffrey Williams.

Just before 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Boone police and fire department personnel and Watauga Medics were called to the Best Western in reference to a medical emergency report indicating that two persons were in distress, according to a release from BPD.

Upon first responders' arrival, the son was determined dead; the mother was taken by ambulance to Watauga Medical Center for treatment.

Police said Sunday that investigators continue to work at the Best Western, located at 840 E. King St., to determine the sequence of events and cause of the medical emergencies.

"We have been able to determine that there is no danger to the general public," a release stated Sunday. "The investigation and testing is ongoing. At this time we do not anticipate any additional release of information until at least Tuesday, June 11, 2013.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the family during this very difficult time."

Investigators discovered that this is the same location and room where two elderly people where found deceased on April 16, 2013.

"While no evidence has been discovered that these incidents are related, investigators continue to explore all possibilities," police said.

Watauga County GIS records indicate the property is owned by AJD Investments Inc. The hotel is among several hotel businesses of the family of the late Ashok Patel, according to remarks Patel made at a December 2012 Boone Town Council meeting. Patel died in January.

A call to the Best Western Sunday was forwarded to the Country Inn and Suites. A hotel manager said the hotel group has no comment at this time.

Scott Davis is senior pastor of Northside Baptist Church in Rock Hill, S.C., where the Williamses attend church.

"While no evidence has been discovered that these incidents are related, investigators continue to explore all possibilities," police said.

"Boone Police investigators have renewed their request for the toxicology and autopsy results from the North Carolina Office of the Chief Medical Examiner concerning the April 16, 2013, deaths that occurred in the same room," police said Monday. "As of this morning, those reports remain unavailable."

"We would like to commend all of the agencies that have responded to assist the town of Boone during this investigation," Boone Police Chief Dana Crawford and Fire Chief Jimmy Isaacs said in a joint statement. "We are committed to finding the cause of this tragic event."

Boone police remain on the scene of what they're calling a suspicious death at a local hotel.

Shortly after noon Saturday, authorities were called to the Best Western Hotel on East King Street after two people were found unresponsive inside one of the rooms.

When authorities arrived, they found one person dead, and another person was transported to a local hospital.

On Sunday police identified the deceased as 11-year-old Jeffrey Williams of Rock Hill. Williams mother, Jeannie Davis remains in the hospital as of Sunday evening.

Emergency crews remained on the scene for more than 10 hours looking for clues into the mysterious death.

Back in April, an elderly couple was found dead inside the same hotel room.

Police say they have no idea if the deaths are related.

They're still awaiting autopsy results to determine that. Meanwhile, the Best Western evacuated its hotel and moved people to nearby hotels.

Josh Ricker is visiting Boone from Ohio.

He returned from a graduation only to discover he couldn't get back inside his hotel.

"There was a bunch of fire trucks, we couldn't get in there," Ricker said. Boone police say there are no health concerns for residents in the area.

Eyewitness News is working on obtaining more information on this incident.

Doing a little research of my own, it appears that the elderly couple, that died in april, were hastily cremated after their death. Also, bizarrely, their death wasn't reported by any news source in the Boone area, despite the irregularity of the circumstances.

I'm guessing some sort of gas leak. But who knows.

Ashok is likely going to get his ass sued off. I used to work for him almost a decade ago. I worked night laundry for what was then the Quality Inn, and is now the sorority dorm for App State.

Madalin Ciculescu, an attorney in Romania, was plagued with foul-smelling demons in his house who constantly turned his electrical gadgets on and off. So he hired four local Orthodox priests to exorcise them. In his lawsuit, Ciculescu argues that they didn't finish the job:

'When I am at home they switch the TV on and off all the time, they make foul smells that give me headaches and basically roam unhindered around my house and my business.

The man produced his mother to back up his claim saying that even the hair-dryer was possessed and a black shadow came out of it when anyone tried to use it - and she also said the fridge was infested by the flatulent demons that she confirmed left foul smells about the property.

    • lol well that kinda ended up working out in the end, even though I still don't have my jersey yet. Was supposed to ship by tomorrow this time, but just got another email saying it was delayed another 3 weeks and because it's been delayed so long, I had to tell them to keep the order or cancel it, but gave me a 25% off my next order as an apology. Well, my original fear came true and they are now selling the FUSE version (but still not the Blue unfortunately) before the one I ordered was ever shipped. But that's awesome, because I was able to use that coupon to order the FUSE instead and then cancelled the original order.  So I got the jersey I wanted for only $6.30 more than the crappier version costs, and it also says it will be shipped immediately and get here early next week, or 2 weeks before the other was now supposed to be shipped out.
    • I've watched this and think we are well underway.  Believe it or not, Bryce is a big part of this.  The way he bounced back with such grace.  And we've got a lot of young players who want to make their mark, Dave is giving them an opportunity.  I loved our draft.  I like the number of guys we brought in, and they will help build the culture we want under Dave.  We're getting closer, and I think we'll see more wins this year than most of the board. The right culture breeds winning, and winning builds the right culture.  Imho, it's coming.
    • As others have said it's both. One creates the other. But it also takes time sometimes years. And there have been teams lately with new car smell coaching staffs that looked like they were putting it together quickly but things came crashing back down to Earth. Sustainability is the key. For that to happen the meddling of our owners has to stop and they cannot be tempted to return to their ways over any bump in the road either.
