The David Glenn show

Im starting like this guy more and more for talk radio. Today he was laying it down about ESPN and I have to say, Im now fan of his. He talked about how ESPN doesnt really worry about whether you know what youre talking about. All you have to do is have an extreme opinion and make it loud. As a former writer for ESPN the mag and working for them here and there, he can tell you like it is.

As many bad threads there are about WFailNZ I just wanted say, eh this is what I found and I like it a lot better. When I listen to him I dont ever feel like Im being manipulated for ratings by some douchebag from Chicago.

Show comes on at noon and its on station 730.

Here in Spartanburg we have ESPN. Then 3 guys from 4-7 who talk mostly college stuff. I can live with Van Pelt, but the rest of the day is useless.

I'm a pretty big fan of Van Pelt and Russillo.  They are both really smart guys and pretty damn funny.

At least on WFNZ I get some Panther talk. Not much intelligent panther talk, but some. Glen gets all the Raleigh callers which results in Skins, Cowboy, Dolphin, and Steeler talk.

I would say the same of WFNZ though. They may focus more on news from Panthers but its not any more informational or entertaining since its just mostly extra garbage from idiots designed to make you angry and call in. Its like being served a white castle burger on a Whopper bun. Sure the sesame seeds look nice, but are they gonna taste right with vanilla coke, SCP!!?!? HuH?

He is still a Panthers hub and a Panthers base but he also gives you more around the league stuff. Stuff thats worth knowing at least. . not what kind of cloths some Liberace wannabe is wearing.

Yea, other than Garcia and a few other behind the scenes guys, WFNZ talent roots for other teams and know very little about the Panthers.

I never thought I'd say it, but WFNZ was light years better when Mark Packer was there.  "The Drive" is like amateur hour.  I think the guys have good intentions, but it's really inexcusable for those guys to be the "sports talk" leaders for Charlotte.

pretty easy gig because of what SCP said. If they make it all they do, then people will come listen because the Panthers are kickin ass and if you want to know whats going on. . whos likely going to be talking about it?

I just want to tell you guys, eh David Glenn is talking about them too and there's less bologna on that show.

    • We agree here dawg. I'd love for Bryce to succeed as would all huddlers. I have not seen a single huddler hate Bryce for anything other than his play on the field / potential / skillset. He hasn't gotten any of the irrational hate having nothing to do with football that Cam got. And yeah I understood going into this season with Bryce again as there weren't a ton of options, but man we missed the fuging mark on upgrading at backup QB with someone who could actually push Bryce. Bryce had zero pressure on him with a 100% washed up Dalton being the only other NFL caliber QB in the system. That absolutely needs to change this offseason. Ideally with an actual starter upgrade but that seems extremely unlikely due to not having many FA options and a bad draft. But at the very least with someone like you mentioned, young/upside and/or day 3 pick in the draft.   Another note, we have a top paid and top performing OL, great young talent at WR incl. likely OROY, great RB group, average all around TE group, offensive coach with creativity in the system and good play designs (poor situational playcalling but still I put out current offensive coaching staff over Shula who held Cam back for instance). Not the absolute best situation for a QB to be in, but still a very good situation around him. And yet we have a bottom 8 offense (6th lowest points scored). Imagine taking a victory lap for a QB leading his team to the 6th lowest points scored in the league and the 22nd highest passer rating (despite being asked to do less than many other QBs; i.e. Bo Nix who isn't great either and has a slightly lower passer rating but Sean Payton actually lets him try to throw the ball deep and has him throw significantly more than Bryce). Crazy
    • similar to Atlanta and the NHL.  Atlanta has lost two NHL teams (and lost a minor leaguer).  Now there's another coalition pulling together another proposal for Atlanta to get an NHL expansion. While I'd like hockey to be back in Atlanta 'cause hockey is fun, I am skeptical that it'll happen based on previous teams' experience here alternatively: similar to Atlanta hosting a Major Tennis Tournament in advance of the US Open every mid/late summer.  Aside from the fact that Atlanta is said to be the country's largest Tennis playing city (with both USTA and ALTA, along with a number of side leagues) - playing tennis outdoors in Atlanta summer is miserable *and* they had difficulty attracting players... ticket sales were not good. So the Atlanta Open closed after 14 years.  They just couldn't make it happen, even if for all intents it appears to be massive tennis interest in the surrounding area.
    • So I saw where Luke was doing that show parallel to the game. Whatever it was, statcast something something, knew it would be a good watch. I don’t get ESPN any more but that would be one of the about few things I would watch outside of games.     He doesn’t fool around on the radio broadcast.
