"They're all thugs"

Awesomeness!!

Saying Aaron Hernadez needs to be a prime example of what not do when you "make it" just seems ridiculous to me because I would claim with 99.9% of players in the NFL today, this kind of behavior wouldn't even cross their minds.

Hernandez is something else.

Hes in good company in that 0.1% group with OJ and Carruth

Killing someone in the heat of the moment can sometimes be understandable.  Not necessarily forgiveable, but somewhat understandable.

If it was sef defense, I agree with you.

But, "understanding" kiliing anyone (if your own life or your family's life was not in danger) is a slippery slope.

It's also not fair to categorize all NFL players as millionaires - especially when every team is carrying 90 right now.  The VAST majority of those 1696 young men are NOT millionaires.  Many will never make a final roster.  The majority will only play a few years.  The minority will have long-term careers and become millionaires.

I was thinking the same thing when I read that, though I realized the OP was generalizing to make a point.

Thug is just a way for white people to say ******.

Maybe for some people.

But, when I have used the word "Thug" it was never meant to represent race.  To me it was more of a term I use for someone in gang/criminal lifestyle....and that includes all races.

I would consider someone in the Ayrian Nation to be just as much a thug as someone in MS13....or the Bloods....or the Mexican Mafia....etc

"Aaron Hernandez is a thug"

"Thug is just a racist term used to anger black people!"

"Hernandez is Italian and Puerto Rican."

"Oh, yeah, but still"

.

One word can mean two totally different things based on who says them and the intent behind what they said..

One of my friends says Canadians when he talks about someone who is black.

It would not be out of the realm of possibility to also call Hawk a Canadian.

One word two different meanings.

What about Kerry Collins today?

From what I have read, I believe he has straightened his life out some.

But, I would probably still consider him a punk and a racist based on his past actions....racists usually don't change.  I know they can, but most don't.

Very true I'm sorry. I think RWilson is only making 500k a year. But still, being in the NFL and making more money than the average person should be enough to keep these guys from shooting people in the back, chest and head.

But that's the problem. The money many of these players make are short term. You may make more in  your career. And if you're not in the league more than a few years, what difference does it make if you blow it all, by the time your career is over?

Now of course, players who have decent contracts, and/have made significant money (and who are still in the league), like Hernandez, generally have a lot more to lose and should know better.

    • The same folks crying about the OL right now were crying about it in 2023 too. We have tied up over 100 million dollars in two interior olinemen alone. We've invested multiple first and second round picks in the offense. We hired an offensive minded head coach. This is an offensive team. The offense needs to produce or people need to be replaced.
    • This is the same place that has ridiculed and blasted Caleb Williams at every opportunity he has his team sitting at 10-4 in the same NFC that the Panthers are competing in. And their division in the NFC North is as or more competitive as our division. Yet from the same people who have very high standards for Williams we get every excuse imaginable for the smallest starting QB in the league even when he and his team continue to disappoint when the pressure is on. You lot aren't any less inconsistent than anyone else.
    • The Panthers are 9th in cap spent on offense this year.  However next season is already a different story  The Panthers as it stands right now will be 18th in cap spent on offense and 8th in cap spent on defense  The Panthers are currently set to spend more on defense next year than they are on offense this season Guys like Jaycee and Moehrig cap numbers take a big jump. Wharton has a massive cap hit   Jaycee Moehrig and Wharton in 2025 The same 3 in 2026 So this same defense as it stands right now will cost more in 2026 than this offense does right now… Got anything else you want to try?
