I love PC gaming

i seriously doubt it that game justifies the cost of a ps4

i wouldn't be lactating at the thought of playing it if it were out on pc

not like dark souls

which i still have not purchased and played because its a shitty port that needed community mods to fix simple issues like mouse functionality

I regret buying dark souls.  It's unplayable.  I couldn't make it past the first boss - not because it's hard, but because the controls are impossible.

The Last of Us looks like an awesome game.  But looking at the gameplay you can probably watch a play through on youtube and experience 90% of what the game offers.

What really gripes me is games that could be awesome if they were solely for PC but the developers want to sell to consoles as well so they either dumb it down or screw up the interface.

I built a decently high end rig that I'm using for (mostly) work purposes, I just bought my second 660 (wasn't sure if two would adequately fit at first, and needed the second set of GPU cores for HHM algorithms) and am quasi-interested in getting back into gaming on the PC since I should be good to go for a while.  Last time I gamed on the PC, TIE Fighter was the poo.  I won't have tons of time, but any recommendations?  I don't play sports games or driving games, I like to blow poo up and RPGs have always been fun.  I don't do multiplayer stuff, if I wanted to interact with someone else I wouldn't lock the munchkins and wifey out of the office when I needed me time.

That's a shame because Dark Souls on the PS3 is one of my top three games of all time for any system.

Desktop Hardware:

Intel Core 2 Duo E8400

Single EVGA 8800GT Akimbo

4 GB DDR2 OCZ Platinum RAM

Win XP Pro

Still plays today's games without much of a hiccup. Can't do max settings, but I can get 30-60 FPS depending on the game. Still, time to upgrade in the near future, as it's a dinosaur at this point. My question is, will I need to replace the Antec 850 TruPower Quattro PS when I do my upgrades? Will the newer components require a new connector that my old one doesn't have?

Was planning on:

and if need be a new PS:

That should last another 5-7 years like the last two gaming rigs I've had. I'm trying not to spend too much, but cost over time is a factor I take into consideration when building.

    • https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/46683459/2025-nfl-offseason-tiers-32-teams-best-worst-signings-trades-draft-barnwell Slightly above expectations Highlights: Trading WR Adam Thielen, signing RB Rico Dowdle (one year, $2.8 million), drafting fifth-round TE Mitchell Evans   Disappointments: Re-signing CB Mike Jackson (two years, $10.5 million)   The Panthers chose the right time to move on from Thielen, who had been productive in Carolina before being dealt to Minnesota just before the season. He has been lost in the shuffle there. While the Panthers won't see the fourth-round pick that forms the bulk of the return for Thielen until 2027, getting out from what was owed to a player who has 47 receiving yards in Minnesota is an easy victory. Dowdle has been a revelation since moving into the starting lineup after Chuba Hubbard's injury, becoming one of a handful of players in NFL history to produce consecutive 200-yard scrimmage games. The former Cowboys back was averaging 3 yards per carry before the opportunity, so I'm not sure I would count on him playing like Jim Brown the rest of the way in a rotational role alongside Hubbard. But it's hard to argue that Carolina hasn't already gotten its $2.8 million worth out of the 27-year-old back. Most of Carolina's biggest moves are either tracking to be right around expectation (drafting wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan) or have been impacted by unexpected injuries (signing defensive tackle Tershawn Wharton). Jackson was a pleasant surprise as a starter in 2024, and he hasn't been terrible this season, but most of the big plays against Carolina have come on throws against the former Seahawks cornerback. Overall, though, this has been a very reasonable offseason for the Panthers
    • How would you have taken the guy who was picked ahead of us? That makes no sense.
    • I am not denying that things were said. That wasn’t my point. But carry on this will go nowhere.    Oh snap, the post calling him a liar was like three posts before you jumped in.  what do you get, a post a page?
