A Superman/Batman film is coming in 2015

it works in the comics because the writers aren't so concerned about the 1970s and 80s superman movies. All the movies until MOS have followed that blueprint instead of the comics.

superman is a much darker character than batman. but everyone remembers the campy movies. imagine if Batman was only remembered for the 1960s series.

A movie would be good if done right (writers remembering that Batman will be the brains and moral compass of the duo). Supes is corruptible; Batman isn't.

Superman darker than Batman?  I was never an avid comic reader but from everything I've ever heard about Supes is that he is the ultimate good guy/protector.  That's why so many nerds bashed the Man of Steel film, because Supes allowed probably tens of thousands of people to die while he was battling Zod.

Yeah, I haven't read a lot of Superman but not a single one of the ones I've read have been darker than Batman. Zack Snyder also said that they'll be addressing Superman having to kill Zod in the sequel and I'm guessing that Batman will have something to do with that. Fanboys will bitch regardless because that's just what they do. I actually heard one say that Man of Steel was absolutely awful but that's okay because it never had a chance to live up to the Richard Donner films anyways.

Clark Kent is a wholesome, good natured farm boy raised by old folks who believe in humanity.

Kal-El is an alien from a distant planet whose parents sent him to earth so that he could survive and either rule earth or repopulate it with kryptonians (depending on the version) because they see humanity as weak.

Superman is a compromise between the two.

And the two can be separated to really show his dark side (Superman 3 tried to do this but failed).

According to Snyder, the new film will have Batman and Superman duking it out.  They didn't give too much away, but they presented this quote from Frank Miller's "The Dark Knight Returns":

Batman to Superman, "“I want you to remember, Clark, in all the years to come, in all your most private moments, I want you to remember my hand at your throat. I want you to remember the one man who beat you.”

I imagine that Batman uses kryptonite to level the playing field with Supes.

In the comics Batman beats Superman using a kryptonite ring. Superman actually gave him the ring himself because he knew if he ever got out of hand somehow Batman would be the only person who could stop him. Batman then fakes his own death and goes underground to train a new generation of Batmen.

I doubt very seriously that's how it'll go down in the movie.

I just saw this online...

I get it that they want to make them fight, but what is the reasoning?

Obviously Batman is going to be pro human, and in general he will do that's that other super heroes won't, as he is kind of THE anti-hero...

But why are they going to be at odds?

just speculating here... with all the LexCorp references in MOS and Zod's battle armor being left at a LexCorp Site, maybe billionaire Lex and billionaire Bruce see Superman as some sort of threat to humanity. Lex and Bruce have the brains to figure out Superman's weakness and work together to stop him. Eventually Lex will become the villain and Bruce will realize Superman is a good guy and they go off into the sunset happily ever after.

    • After listening to Morgan's presser twice, I came away with some key beliefs. First of all, I don't think he's a bullshitter. What you see is what you get. When he says something, he means it.  The Teppers really have evolved as owners. Morgan has mentioned how they're easy to work with--a pleasure to work with a few times now. There seems to be a good relationship between all of them (and include Dave Canales on that). We'll see if it lasts. Yes, no one wanted to come to Carolina with the previous management, but that seems to have changed. The team signed arguably the top Edge, LB and OT on the market, two of them on pretty good deals and one on what I'll say is "not a bad one." And, credit Sunshine Dave "Flowers and Cotton Candy" Canales for helping to change the culture. Morgan mentioned getting guys--and I'm paraphrasing--that are not only great football players but great people. Don't look for us to be acquiring any James Pearce types anytime soon, just saying. We'll see if that holds true in the future. Dan Morgan really has set up the Panthers to take the BPA/BAP. He mentioned it at least a couple of times, and he doesn't seem pressured to pinpoint a particular position. He just wants quality players that will help the team. This is how it's going to be (to your joy or dismay, probably for as long as he's here), and personally I love it. Many of us know how Morgan was when he played: aggressive! That's what he's going to be when making acquisitions. He explicitly said it, and emphasized it. All avenues are open (think FA, waivers...the draft)! Personally, as long as it's controlled aggression and not reckless aggression, I love it.  On KP: "Mobility is big in this league."  He basically says if another QB is the BPA while drafting--we're going by our board, people--we're going to add them.        ...
    • Canes are so fascinating. Despite inconsistent defense and poor goalie play they keep winning.
    • I like Morgan's approach but I'll wait for a few winning seasons before giving too much praise.
