I was tempted to stop reading after he already threw Andrew Luck in there at #1 but I perservered.  Cam and Luke both made the top 10.

Current: If you think this is too high for a middle linebacker and I'm breaking my rules about positional value, consider that Kuechly led the NFL in tackles and took on the role of one of the leaders of an NFL defense all while playing the entire 2012 season as a 21-year-old. Again, think about that -- he's three months younger than Manti Te'o. Kuechly has exceptional instincts, is a stud against the run and really only needs to improve in coverage. But he will because he's ahead of the curve.

Future: Kuechly is so high because he's already a Pro Bowl-caliber player, has no injury history and will qualify for this list for almost another three years, which is incredible. He'll also move to middle linebacker this year after working a lot on the weak side last season. He's only going to get better, which means he could play in about 10 Pro Bowls.

Current: This might be too low for Newton, but after an outstanding rookie season that quieted plenty of doubters, I saw him take a clear step back as a passer in 2012, which creates a few questions on his ceiling. Newton is one of the most gifted physical talents to ever enter the league, and could definitely use a little more help in the passing game. He also won't turn 25 until next May, so there's lots of time for him to get it going again.

Future: Carolina finished really well in 2012, going 5-1 down the stretch. Newton has the frame to handle it, but I'd still like to see him used just a little bit less as a runner -- not so much for health reasons, but so he can continue to develop as a passer. My concern is whether Newton has enough good options to throw to at wide receiver. He has the talent, but his instincts are split between what he is as an athlete and what he is as a QB who anticipates at a high level.

Fair enough assessments. Contrary to what many people on the huddle, and panther nation in general may believe, Cam is not perfect and has some things to work on... Which is fine because he's only 24 years old. People aren't totally disrespecting him, he is getting some credit which is good. So lets all take a deep breath before we all rant about how cam is disrespected and stuffs.

I find nothing disrespectful at all in this no talent hacks assessment of our 2 studs. IMO he has them in reverse order but both kids are gonna rule the league at their positions for quite some time. I'm quite pleased with what he has said here.

      This is about getting open and YAC....and the QB we have.  You basically are just highlighting average depth when targeted vs 2 players. .  And yeah, I often say AT is a small slow reliable TE in terms of what he does for us.   That's what he is.   I think a couple of you want to make this into a Renfrow argument.   I'm a Renfrow fan.  Renfrow does not check the box of what a BY O needs either at the slot.  Renfrow just a niche roleplayer at this level.  it's easy to look up how horrific AT is with the ball in his hands and in terms of getting open.....and it's also easy to look up what a low ceiling of an offense the steady AT diet produces w/ BY.

      I simply acknowledge BY is the QB.  And just like we did when we drafted him.....the type O you would need to setup around him for success was always pretty simple.  But we have done virtually the opposite.  XL dropping some passes isn't why we were ranked the 32nd O and 30th passing the past 2 years.  *Ricky Prohel was brought up only in regards to role function he served on the team.  Niche/specialist.   He wasn't eating up the snaps in the O.    AT should have a similar snap %. People could MAUL Ricky Prohel and put hands all over him.   We got to the Super Bowl in part because we were mauling guys (our slot CB).   You can't do that now.  AT has a MUCH easier life and still can't get open.  Or run.    If you live in 3 WR sets, with a weak armed QB, and you choose to put someone who can't get open or run in the slot.......well, your are going to have a weak pass O.  That's by design IMO.
