Down the stretch...

everyone keeps talking about how we finished strong "down the stretch" last season..

considering who we played, we better have won most of those games against the opponents we played:

DEN - smoked us.. one of only 2 games that we lost by more than 6pts (MNF vs NYG)

TB - lost in overtime in ridiculous fashion

PHI - beat a pitiful team with a ton of injuries- only won by 8pts BTW

KC - lost to the worst team in the league

ATL - a quality win in the books - check

SD - a Jeckle and Hyde team- very similar to us last year.. you can call this a quality win if you want

OAK - another team reeling at that point in the year

NO - a shoot out of a game that we eventually won.. i guess you can say a quality win too

so at the end of the day- our Awesome "down the stretch" run consisted of 2.5 Quality wins and a loss to the worst team in the league..

Yea but if you look at most of the games we lost where by less than a TD in last few mins of the game

Good reminder, but as others have said no one gives a fug who you beat, as long as you win.  Look at the Ravens regular season, hardly impressive.

The wins down the stretch may not mean a lot except in the attitude of the players. We came back from 11 down in the NO game and beat Atlanta in a convincing manner. Those things help tremendously in the confidence of the individual players.

But this is a new year with a new OC and other coaching changes, and a new mix of players. We cannot assume that we'll be either better or worse until we face real competition.

Projections based on past performance is always kind of dicey in the NFL, especially for the middle of the pack teams like we were last year.

Honestly who gives a poo?

New England beat up on a poo division since ohhh 2002 and no one bats an eye.

Denver will beat up on the AFCW this year and no one cares.

If you wins are counted 123456789 and so on. Not A grade B grade C Grade wins and ABC grade losses.

Panthers were damn good at season end, beat they should, beat a couple they might not should have +arrrrr grammar+

    • It goes deeper than that for me. When I started watching the Panthers as a kid I fell in love with Mark Fields’ story during that SB run. He wore #58. Then TD wore it and kept the tradition of the being the soul of the Panthers. The next time someone wears #58 I hope brings that same spirit
    • T-Mac is a nickname, Tet is a shortening of Tetairoa. Like you said below... your name is Jonathan, I could see "Jonny" being considered a nickname, but Jon isn't a nickname, it's a shortening of Johnathan, see the difference? And if your mom named you Jonathan for it's biblical significance/meaning, because she was very religious, I think it would be different. T-Mac is Polynesian, so much in their culture has deeper meaning for them, particularly names.  So for his mom to feel this way, I highly doubt it's just because she likes the name Tetairoa and not Tet, it's much more likely than not to be because the name itself has a deeper meaning in their culture.   Particularly as T-Mac himself has often talked about how much his Polynesian heritage means to himself and his family. And no, I'm not saying all this because of how much he's my guy, if he was just "normal american" and his name was Jonathan and he didn't like fans calling him Jon, I'd probably just say tough poo.  It's that he's Polynesian and I know things like names have a much deeper meaning in their culture than they do in ours for the most part. For whatever it's worth, a quick google search.......
