Pat Yas

Had a good conversation with Pat Yas yesterday in the media room. He was waiting to talk to Mike Shula. Pat was in Tampa during the Shula days and remembers the crap he caught down there. Pat is really pulling for Shula, felt he has much to prove.  His Panthers camp article should come out tomorrow on ESPN.

Does he feel Shula has learned anything? I mean obviously he has learned things, but has he changed his ways?

He didnt feel Shula ever had a fair shake in Tampa or Bama. I think he really likes Shula and wants to see him do well. As much as some members here think Yas is anti-Panther, he really isn't at all.

I don't think Cam and Chud saw eye to eye much. Cam and Shula seem like they get along and trust each other, lets hope it works out and we start winning those close ones.

You still sipping the Shula haterade or are you starting to come around?

Never hated him. Just not assuming he will be good when he never has been at play calling. He has much to prove and I am hoping he does in convincing fashion.

Interesting. Haven't ever heard that "didnt get a fair shake" perspective. Wonder what leads him to think that?

Yas liking a guy he knew from his days in TB and wanting him to succeed doesn't equate not having a bias against the Panthers.  I've never thought he has some deep rooted hatred of the Panthers or anything, but he always downplays Carolina's successes and talent.  TB has a bad season, they're victims of unfortunate circumstance.  Carolina has a bad season and they're talent deficient and have no hope.  Other teams get excuses, Carolina gets ridicule.  That's long been Pat's MO.

I have a feeling there will be a few Sunday evenings filled with William Shatner "KHAAAAAAN!" pics with Shula's name edited in this season...

Many more losing seasons than winning creates a lot of doubt...

What's TB's winning season to losing season ratio?  I'd be surprised if it's better than ours.  NO's can't be much better than ours, if at all.

I know one thing.  Carolina has a much better winning % than either team, .461 for the Panthers.  Bucs: .396, NO: .433

    • Im listing the two picks above the Panthers apparently, Dane values Proctor a lot more than some   17. Detroit Lions: Kadyn Proctor, OT/G, Alabama The return of Taylor Decker in 2026 gives the Lions options on draft night, but it doesn’t eliminate offensive line from being the move here. Proctor has the talent to give Detroit immediate depth at both tackle and guard, especially after the release of Graham Glasgow. He’d be a long-term building block. 18. Minnesota Vikings: Dillon Thieneman, S, Oregon With Harrison Smith’s future in question, the Vikings will have safety near the top of their wish list this offseason. Thieneman was expected to test well at the combine. Based on the reactions from teams, he surpassed even those high expectations and solidified himself in the mid-first-round range. (NFL scout: “It’s hard to find anything bad with ‘T-man.’”) 19. Carolina Panthers: Akheem Mesidor, edge, Miami General Manager Dan Morgan, a member of the Hurricanes’ Ring of Honor, isn’t going to draft a Miami player because of the connections to his alma mater. But it wouldn’t hurt, especially with the Panthers in the market for a charged-up edge rusher.
    • Trading up in the 1st is almost ALWAYS a bad idea. If you make moves out of desperation, you generally get fleeced (see 2023).
