Anybody a little concerned with Beason?

I'm very hopeful for his return and all the contributions he can make, because I still believe in Beaston.

 

He needs some serious contact and participation in full pads and game time though. To get back into game shape, it's important to get these real time reps, and well he's not really getting them. I'm not at all implying he won't do good and can't but anybody else thought he should be back to full by now and at least making some contact plays? It makes me just a little nervous. 

 

 

What are your thoughts Huddle?

Concerned, but not really worried.

Beason himself said that he probably won't play in a preseason game (however he wouldn't rule anything out), but the goal is to be ready for Seattle.

I know that a lot of that is just Beason telling. The fans what they want to hear, but I have no reason to doubt him

If it happens that he isn't ready for season, Blackburn, Klein, Senn, and Williams should be able to cover for him until he gets back.

I'm worried about Beason's career. Micro-fracture surgery is not something to be taken likely and the success rate is mighty low compared to that  of a mensicus surgery, ACL recontruction, or a Rotator Cuff surgery.

 

Basically the cartilage on the end of his femur or knee has deteriorated over the course of his career and the constant impact of "bone on bone" from running, jumping, etc started to cause his micro-fracture injury. The bad thing is that cartilage does not repair itself very well and once its damage its practically done for, so surgeons had to actually damage or re-injury the area by drilling tiny holes into his femur so that it would bleed, clot and kind of give Beason's knee a band-aid so to speak just to cushion the area.

 

This new clot is not very durable and many people that play high intensity sports play with pain for the rest of their careers. But there have been some notable NFL players to return from this surgery like Kellen Winslow Jr., he actually had his best career as far as statistics are concerned that year.

 

So I'm not as worried about the Panthers linebacker situation if he is not able to return, as much as I am worried about Beason's career as a linebacker. Because he is a great guy and great competitor, and when healthy he was amazing.

I'm with the OP on this one.  It is a bit conerning not seeing beason practice or get any playing time in the preseason.  When he came back last year I know he wasn't fully recovered but he wasn't making plays the way he used too, and I think other than being 100% to be able to make those plays he missed on (tackles, int that went just over his head) he needs real playing time to get used to being able to make those plays I just hope that when he comes back he still isnt trying to shake off the rust like last year (I think it's going to be more of the beason we saw last year until he gets some games under his belt) who truly knows though all speculation at this point.

      With the contract money an OT first rounder makes you can ALWAYS get a new girlfriend.  And probably an upgrade at that.  You only got 2 parents.

      Brother. You are wholly confusing comparing situations and applying actual standards like most other franchises do like simply getting into a playoff series and winning at least 1 or 2 series games with praising. Nobody is praising the Hawks. Nobody is praising the Magic. Nobody here likes those teams. But reality is reality. The Hawks like other franchises have traded players fired coaches etc but they can still win a couple playoff games. How is that not the bare floor for you or anyone else? What are we doing here if it isn't? We've seen eye to eye on many things over the years. But you are in the camp on the Hornets where you are emotionally attached to LaMelo where you feel the need to carry his water like he's got that juice. That's cool that you feel that way. It's your prerogative. But I differ from that viewpoint entirely. If he had that juice we would not have gotten wiped off the court in 2 play in games with 2 different coaching staffs and rosters. if people don't like hearing that well I'm sorry but how the hell is this team ever going to get better and ultimately go anywhere in the postseason if we just blindly pat them on the back for getting their asses whooped before they actually even get into the real playoffs? There seem to be some Bryce Young level standards being applied here. That's wild to me. But to each his own.

      Proctor/Freeling were always the belles of the ball where we were picking. What those two *could* become at OT was far greater than what others could be at their respective positions and I’m glad our FO could see that.
