Risers and Fallers - Eagles Edition

No he didn't. Stewart was a rookie as was our right tackle. Williams did most of the work that year not Stewart. Smith had Moose and nothing else and the O line was not better. This line will be better, the receivers will be better, The tight ends will be better. What else is there??

Are you serious?

Stewart is on PUP now and can't even get healthy. Give me the rookie over the guy battling through years of nagging NFL injuries.

2008 Williams >> 2013 Williams

2008 Smith >> 2013 Smith

Not close and not a debate

2008 OL? Younger Gross and Wharton, Vincent Otah are better collectively. Otah was almost pro bowler caliber that year....

Again, Jake started to foreshadow what was coming at the end of the year in 2008 and Jeff Davidson was our OC....and we won how many games?

The 2008 cast surrounding Jake was strong and started up front on the OL and let a peaking version of Williams go off and a still prime Smitty go off.

The defense looked aweful, but in the end only allowed 14 points... I know they threw the ball all over us, but in the end turnovers are turnovers... My concern is that the offense hasn't been able to do anything at all with those turnovers. 8 offense possession have led to 13 points... that's not gonna beat even the jets of last year.

So either the offense sucks overall, the oC sucks, or a piece of the offense sucks, and they need to get it in order soon. I know everyone is whiney about the defense, but if we are gonna start winning, we need to start putting some real weapons around Cam Newton. No matter where we draft next year, we need to take the best tacke/wr or any combination of those there of in the first and second round.

The panthers got their asses handed to them planning or no - their heads were not in that game.  Thats the direct fault of the head coach.

Sorry if it doesn't worry me that players don't get their "heads in the game" for a meaningless preseason game on the road.

How many preseason games has Stewart ever played?  Yeah........................

I don't know if Williams in 2008 is better than 2013, I haven't seen a drop off.  I haven't seen a drop off with Smith.  It surely is a debate.

How can you judge the O-line in 2013 when we haven't played a game.

We won in 2008 due to defense as much as offense.  Fox was always a defensive coach not an offensive one.  The offense was to score points and manage the game.

In 2008 Smitty had 18 yards a catch and 7 TDs,  In 2011 it was 17.5 and 7 TDs.  In 2012 it was 16 yards a catch and 4 TDs.  He is not tailing off.

Jakes production in 2008 before Arizona was not that different than in 2003 when he took us to the Superbowl.  In 2003 he had a passer rating of 80.6 with 19 TDs and 16 Ints averaging 7.2 yards a catch.  In 2008 he had a passer rating of 84.5 with 15 TDs and 12 Ints averaging 7.9 yards a catch.

So like usual spin your opinion and ignore the facts.

good grief our corners looked like poop, particularly Captain and Drayton . Yeah, preseason, but it was still a half of football that you don't just kick dirt around on either. You do have to be concerned if the worries over the secondary will be as troublesome as many believed.

Ron felt like the boys looked real flat on the last day of training camp and it sure showed.

Gettis is definitely on the upswing. I don't think he proven ha has earned a spot running with the ones. He looked good but he was practically the only receiver getting anything catchable thrown his way and it was against 2nd and 3rd string secondary. Yes the light is getting brighter but keep it in perspective. One thing is for sure he is the chosen one of the huddle. Huggers were loving him up the last couple of years and he didn't even play.

    • I think where they would be picked if redrafted before both classes have played enough football to really tell.  Baker literally looked like a washout with us after Cleveland gave up on him, then turned world beater with the Rams, got a prove it deal with the Bucs and has looked awesome ever since. Asking where Ward would’ve went had he went in ‘24 is just stupid.  I’m no GM, but I wouldn’t have taken Williams #1 either.  I would’ve taken Joe Milton way higher than he went.  I think Shadeur should’ve been a first round pick this year.  Point being, opinions are like buttholes, everybody has one.  It’s my opinion that Ward has that “something special.”  I get that feeling that he’ll be an even better pro than he was a collegiate QB because of whatever that quality is.  I think he’s gonna surprise a lot of people, especially being such an under appreciated first overall pick.
    • Where do we get our T-shirts and hats? Pretty sure this is the first championship ever in professional basketball or football in Charlotte!
    • Nice turnaround for Kon.  I’m still a little worried about his ability to create for himself and others, but it was SL.  Come regular season, he will playing a much different role and shots will be there for him.  He showed some reason for hope - and not just him, but the whole squad.  I suppose for the first time ever, we have drafted and acquired enough young talent that we actually not only competed for once, but won the whole thing in summer league.     Kon, Simpson, and Sims made all the difference.  Almost every year prior I felt we always struggled because we usually didn’t have a floor general/real PG to get us into offense.  This was such a breath of fresh air.  And look at us!  We finally are champions!😂
