Interesting tidbit on Beason's restructure...FA at end of the Season?

So Scott Fouler wrote some crappy article about Beason being healthy all season, then one of the guys I follow on twitter had this to say:

  1. @josephperson @scott_fowler Beason could use a bounce back year because his deal voids on the 5th day of the '14 waiver period (2/7/14).

  2. @corryjoel was this a part of his restructure? does he become an FA? no one has mentioned this

  3. @StevenFeezor Beason's deal voiding after the season was a part of his pay cut. The Panthers will pick up $2.5M in cap room w/the voiding.

  1.
  2. @corryjoel So this is Beas becomes a FA after this season?

  3. @StevenFeezor Beason will be an unrestricted free agent after the season.

Fascinating.

Beason a FA at the end of the Season?

I missed that somehow.

Gettleman's cleaning up of troublesome contracts has been impressive.

I love me some Beason, but the situation has changed drastically from when he first signed his deal.

In a perfect world he could return at a reduced rate, but I understand doing what's best for you as a player.

i think he wants to play mike if he gets back to form. he would more than likely sign with another team if he does.

i wouldn't blame him for it and i wouldn't have a problem with it either. he's a class act and we'd still be good there without him.

i mean we'd be better with him but still fine without.

    • This isn't directed at CRA or anyone in particular, but as someone who works with large datasets every day, it's funny how you can construe data to fit any particular narrative.  I mean this is just a hilarious tweet, a stat nobody has ever heard of, then some percentages with QB name. No numerator/denominator to provide context, no explanation of the formula, just another stathead loser with a mustache parroting whatever he wants.  So much of this stuff is worthless, especially in a sport like Football.
    • 3rd straight openers of horrific football featuring Bryce.   and if the games weren't dated....I bet someone unfamiliar with Bryce/us  couldn't figure out which one was his rookie season just off the 3 openers.
    • I've watched everybody that says TLaw outplay Bryce also completely ignore Nijman giving up immediate pressures and mistakes by other players on the offense. I have no attachment to Bryce. My attachment is to facts, and the facts are that he dealt with more than TLaw did. As a fellow Clemson fan, I've got a much softer spot in my heart for TLaw and the NCG he won his freshman year than I do Bryce and his rough two seasons to start his career in Carolina.  Have you gone back and watched the all-22 with the intent to figure out what was happening rather than sticking with your initial assessment? Give it a shot. It's much more rewarding than making up conspiracies to continue an agenda.
