How much is Hardy worth?

two words, one name. Drew's De on the market last season. Paul Kruger (less impressive stats compared to Hardy and he got a 5 year 40 million dollar deal. That's who Gettleman is working with here and that's the low low ball area for Hardy's contract.

Two words, one name: "Dave Gettleman". Drew isnt negotiating with Mike Lombardi who was in huge need of a 34 OLB who can play the run in a new placed system there in Cleveland. He's negotiating with Gettleman who has all the advantage on his side. Unless a team shows a ton of interest in Hardy next year, Drew better settle for a Paul Kruger type of contract for Hardy. Nothing more.

I nailed charles Johnson's contract. Which is why I think I want to stop talking about hardy's possible extension. Lol.

Yea, so did I. I actually got it completely right. The length, amount and guaranteed amounts were all correct and everyone called me crazy. I was damn close on Beason's, Kalil, and Williams deals and everyone called me crazy. Same thing with Stewart's deal as well.

Gettleman's name doesn't mean anything here. Drew will play hardball and get what he wants or let Hardy walk. It's either a 13 Million franchise tag, a long term deal worth what Drew wants or Hardy walks. That's gettleman's options.

Don't give me the 'geez' garbage then. It sounds condescending to me.

I was pointing out that Hardy's contract shouldn't be as high as 35-40 million simply because we've only gotten a small sample size from Hardy. Greg is talented and versatile but he has motor concerns. Who's to say he'll still be a productive DE when he gets paid? We were fortunate with Johnson but do we truly want to pony up a similar contract? This is the identical board that's whining about J-Stew's and D-Will's contracts after all.

It's a massive risk to give him anything more than 30-35 million.

The world is coming to an end, bc I have finally agree with you on something. This is worth posting. Good job.

Drew better get ready to play hardball with Gettleman then. How is Drew going to convince Getlleman that he needs to give another 12-13 mil to another of his client when Gman already is with CJ who plays the same position?

The market for players is not high anymore. We all saw some big name free agents this offseason who went on and took reasonable deals like Avril and Jake Long.

Drew better hope Gettleman is on drugs during negotiation time. Teams rather go through the Draft these days than handing out a huge contract. There are 3-5 DE prospects (Clowney/Tuitt/Lynch/Jeffcoat) next year that team would rather take in the high rounds over handing a guy like Hardy 13 mil a year.

Missed this earlier.

It's not his sample size, it's his talent, age and the production when on the field. He's rated as one of the top DE's over the last two years. Combine that with his age, Talent and versatility and you get a player about to get a major pay check. He's simply going to get more then Kruger did last year, so the base line here is 5 years for 45 million dollars. Anything offered lower then that and Drew is going to get up and walk out while laughing at Gettleman since the franchise tag is worth 13 million.

The only prospect you mentioned that has a higher value is Clowney and he's going to be a top 2 pick. There's plenty of examples from just last year where players that were young and coming off big years hit pay day. Hardy falls into both of those categories and you can add to the fact that he's been one of the highest rated pass rushers of the last two seasons onto that.

On top of that Hardy has the Franchise tag to fall back on, which if no deal is reached will likely be offered to him. That's worth 13 million, your going to have to give Hardy and Rosenhaus incentive to turn down that 1 year deal worth 13 million with a very rich contract offer.

Go back to the Avril comparison. Next year Hardy will be 26. Thats "one" year younger than what Avril is now. Why didnt Avril receive a big pay check when he has shown more than Hardy up to this point?

13 mil is clearly wishful thinking on both Drew and Hardy's part. It's not happening here in Carolina and I cant see it happening anywhere else. Paul Kruger's contract is in Hardy's range. He'd be very lucky to receive a 10mil contract. Unless he goes and gather JPP's stats from 2 years ago, it's not happening.

I mean you're talking about giving Clay Matthews type of money to a player who had "one" productive season. And more money than what a Jared Allen or Demarcus Ware is getting. 13 mil is probably what a Von Miller and Aldon Smith will get.

The problem with that is that Gettleman needs as much of that 12.5 million to roll over for next years cap.

The Panther's are already over the cap next season with only like 37-40 players on contract. Add Hardy's deal and Lafell's deal to that and it's likely the Panther's will start next season with 42 player under contract taking up 130 million in cap space.

Don't be so sure Lafell is getting a deal.

Allen makes 16 million a season, peppers makes 14. That's what miller and smith are looking at, avril turned down a 10 mil a year deal. Avril also isn't as versatile or a explosive as hardy. Kruger isn't the player that hardy is either. He's worth more then both. It's not just about sacks, hardy posted better pressure numbers over the last two seasons compared to Kruger and avril.
