This week marks the 10th season of the Huddle

My wife abhors the T&A pics/gifs on this site, and calls us juvenile.  Well...

Call of Duty, the Carolina Huddle and the NFL are a scourge to women everywhere as far as my wife is concerned, but especially the NFL during football season.

Before the season started, she tried to make a deal with me that she would actually watch all the Panthers games with me, and even play fantasy football.  I knew I was in for something, and grinned while she was speaking.  She said the only thing I had to do was watch Panthers games only (which I could actually live with if I had to), but I love football too much. I said "No way!"

If your girl doesn't like football, it's never fun to watch it with her.

I'd rather she go do her own thing than start conversations when it's 4th and 1 out of boredom.

For those who do like it, though, it's awesome.

Let her know this girl loves all three. :)

I've had a COD itch for at least a week. Gotta find some time to play.

I try to tell her that y'all are out there, but she tries to equate you with the Tooth Fairy and St. Nick.

Good for you!

I'm married now, but a man does daydream sometimes...     LOL.

Zod can correct me, but I believe that the Huddle came into existence because Zod had inside info that the forum on Panthers.com was going to be shut down due to all the stupidity. I forget the year (but it was probably around 2003), but I vaguely remember someone soliciting a new Panthers forum (presumably the Huddle) on that site, and then a few weeks later they were shut down and some people just kind of migrated to the Huddle, and the Huddle grew from there. Ironically, now there is a forum on the Panthers site, again, that isn't even in the same league.

That is exactly how I made it here. I have been lurking daily since 03/04 timeframe. Way back then, the lounge was especially awesome. Cooter, ms.scarlett, livermush, comixdr etc. I never posted but I would read about their exploits daily and would laugh at loud at times. Now.....back to lurking. Carry on.

I guess time flies when youre having fun. Ive lurked here since probably 06 or 07. (I only started posting after the tommy jone thread. I figured I couldnt post anything worse than that)

Hilarious! tommy jone attack jake and broken his elbow. Fug tommy jone, he caused us several years of mediocrity (but the tide has turned [i think]).  :cam1:

    • It's not impossible to go from worst to first.  We kept Evero because anyone in there right mind knew our defense was destroyed by injuries, not the scheme.  Evero has been given a plethora of talent between free agency and the draft, not to mention getting DB back. I fully expect our defense to be very good.  I have no reason to think Jones would say something like that unless he truly felt like that.
    • We would’ve played Florida and lost in the 1st instead of the 3rd round.  Montreal would have been the 8 seed.
    • I can't get behind a purely subjective re-draft as a method of defining "top-10 QB" status. That invites bias based on vibes/hypotheticals and can ignore actual on-field performance. You and others have said that Bryce has to be a top-10 QB to justify the pick. That's a high bar, which I'm not against, but we need a clear, consistent way to measure it. When I bring up metrics that Bryce has registered in the top-10 in like BTT%, P2S ratio, catchable deep ball rate, etc... they're waved off as either irrelevant or the expected baseline performance. Meanwhile, volume stats like passing yards or win-loss records, both of which depend heavily on roster talent, health, and coaching, are treated as definitive. That's where the inconsistency kicks in. If no performance metric ever counts in his favor and the answer is always going to be "he should be doing that," then we're not evaluating him... we're just holding him to a curve he can't win against. If this is really about performance standards, then let's define them. But if it's just about confirming prior takes based on height and weight, then let's call it what is it and stop pretending that this is a football analysis discussion.
