Guess who?

No surprise of course. Note a former Panthers coach is on the list.

I know its too early and hopefully we pound the Bills...but do we start making changes if we go into the bye week 0-3? Or do you think Rivera rides out the season for continuity no matter what.

Would Shula go first if our offense remains stagnant?

Callers were asking this on Busting loose just before noon so yell at them if you don't like the question

I think we won't get rid of Shula before Rivera for the same reason we got the only post Bear Bryant Alabama coach to have a losing season as offensive coordinator in the first place: Gettleman is not going to retool this coaching staff. Either this one succeeds as is, or he's getting a brand new one of his choosing.

On the bright side if it does come to that I trust gettleman to build a better one than hurney did

Actually two former Panthers coaches... McCoy in San Diego and Capers in GB

We're riding the Chico bus until the end of the season at least... if he makes it past that, I'll be shocked and happy, because it means we've put it together enough to make the playoffs.

If Rivera manages to go for 0-3 and have a slow, sluggish start to a new season with a record of 13-19 before this season, he definitely needs to be shown the door. It’s the same thing every year. I don’t see why any HC that bad would be given the opportunity to end the season.

Also, I would be confused to why Shula would be gone before Rivera. He’s not the one holding this team back the last two seasons. If that’s the case, Shula would clearly be used as the scapegoat.

as long as he doesn't start 2-8

In thought the same then CyberJag asked me "Who becomes HC for the rest of the season?".

Shula?

Mcderms?

Jim Skipper?

Result is likely the same either way.

So let Rivera finish it out, the season is a wash either way.

Or maybe MAYBE Gettleman already has someone in mind.

Jerry makes some pretty interesting decisions, but I think he knows he's putting a little too much stress on his fragile customer base if he shitcans yet another season by keeping on a lame duck.

Very possible.

My only concern with losing our current staff would be the loss of McDerm who I think has done a decent job with what he has been given. Some exceptions (Bears last year) obviously apply.

Who am I kidding. We probably won't see a winning record till Sept 2014.

    • Not sure how much he was a long term piece of this team.   Sucks to not have him as part of the rotation.   Looks like it's Lee Hunter time.
    • This post was an error. Oops and sorry for the errors in the previous one. Too slow to edit.   We’ll see what they do.
    • I am not sure he will put the over the games but we’ll probably have them.   Two things I am thinking.  We have 4 preseason games.  All the coaches have enough service time to know the standards that are in place for decades. If I recall it was play your starters just a series to start woth and build it up until week theee where play a lot and you have week four to set hour roster. Evaluate before cuts.   Bevell will certainly have the whole thing down pat.   I’d they don’t do the fries and frie air will worry too. Because it is set up to do that.     I have said since they went t three preseason people have to figure a new way are still feeling it out and trying things.  We don’t have to this year.
