Behind Enemy Lines - Buffalo Bills

Good post, Zod. And 5-6 years ago a post like that would have had me excited but at this point I am just waiting for this team to find a way to lose. That is a shitty way to spend time being a fan. It seems we either have a mental break down or a physical break down or both every week. Then we get to hear the excuses and how things will change next week. Rivera needs to have this team ready to kick some ass the minute they run out of the tunnel. No excuses this week.

This.  If the team shows anything less than 110% foaming at the mouth then we need to start the coaching search.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- If you're wondering why Carolina Panthers wide receiver Domenik Hixonwas on the inactive roster for Sunday's opener against the Seattle Seahawks, you're not alone.

Hixon

Hixon wants to know, too.

The Panthers signed the former New York Giants player during the offseason to add depth to a thin wide-receiving corps, to possibly be the No. 3 receiver behind Steve Smith and Brandon LaFell

After dealing with a hamstring injury for more than a month in training camp, Hixon caught three passes for 44 yards in the preseason finale against Pittsburgh and seemed good to go for Week 1.

"I felt good,'' Hixon said Wednesday. "Yeah, I felt good.''

So why didn't he play?

"I wasn't told why, so I can't answer that for you,'' Hixon said. "I didn't ask. All I can do is practice throughout the week, show them I am ready to play and keep on working hard.''

i've got plantar fascitis right now. i got it towards the end of july and its still hurting when i wake up and when i spend even an hour walking around. it's a frustrating and very nagging injury that takes a long time to heel. in the literature i got from the doctors office it said that 80% may be pain free in about a year. my wife thought that was funny for some reason. point is, he's not going to be playing anywhere near 100% if he plays, at least not for very long. i think their secondary as is will be easy to exploit and even if byrd is there and able to play, he's just one guy. throw to someone that isn't being covered by him.

i think our secondary will still be a weak link, but i think that manuel will be easier to pressure and rattle than wilson and i hope he does try to go vertical because it's quite likely he'll be forcing some throws that will be result in bad/ill-timed throws that our DB will find easy to capitalize on, which is one thing they are good at doing....capitalizing on mistakes the QB makes.

I've got it, too.  When it's acting up it sticks around for months and I limp for hours after getting out of bed.  Any strenuous activity causes it to act up as well.  He definitely won't be at 100% if he plays...

I was talking to a guy yesterday who noticed my panthers tag. I asked him if he were fan and his response was "No I just love watching them play, it's amazing how they find a way to give games away, I watch just to see how they will lose."

You should have knocked him the fug out and tbagged him.

Now that's a truly pathetic human being.

I finally could rewatch the Seahawks game today during lunch.  The worst part is that they honestly played one of the better games they have the past 2 years.

Hats off to the Seahawks.  The Deangelo fumble was huge, but he had a good game outside of that and the Panthers defense, while playing a great game overall, couldn't get the ball back to close the game.

I honestly think if the Panthers execute better on the field they will win Sunday.  The offense was not explosive, but they were very balanced in respect to what we've seen the last 2 years.

If Steve Smith is right about the Panthers being a playoff caliber team, then Sunday is a game a playoff team wins.  Bottom line.

    • This is gonna be longest six weeks ever
    • This 1000%.  Hey who wants to sign with the guy that couldn't even get his client the guaranteed contract of a 3rd round pick?  Lmao
    • I don't think it's any weird or unique clause, it's the offset language, same thing so many contract disputes are over. It just means that including it, if a player is cut and then signed by another team, the original team would be able to subtract how much they're getting paid by the new team from what they still owe him on their guaranteed money. For example, it's why Russell Wilson signed for the minimum last year with the Steelers as that was included in his Denver contract.  So if he signed with the Steelers for $1 million, he'd get $1 million less from the Broncos, if it was $2 million, he'd get $2 million less, basically he couldn't make any more money than he was already going to make, so you sign for the minimum to not take unnecessary cap room from your new team while giving extra cap room to your old one. The problem with trying to include it in rookie deals is that a team trying to include it, it says they think they don't really believe the player will make it 4 years with the team before they cut them.  And this usually comes up with one or two rookies in most seasons, the difference is it's usually handled much more quietly and not as public and ugly as this one. The other difference is that it's happening with the Bengals, which I believe I saw are one of the few (or only?) team that doesn't have protections for rookies in rookie and mini camps to be able to participate even if they haven't signed their contract yet.  The other teams have injury protections that allow them to still play, but the Bengals do not, which is also why this one is so public and ugly, as most the time this happens, the rookie is still participating in the rookie and subsequent mini camps, giving them more time to get the contract done before training camp when they'd then hold out.
