Little things I wanted to comment on ~

Just random thoughts.  :)

 

1.  I too am done with Rivera...but only if we upgrade.  Putting in an interim coach doesn't seem the best choice.

 

2.  Officiating really bothered me.  I am still annoyed at the 'face mask' penalty where our guy didn't grab the face mask.

 

3.  Was surprised the talking heads didn't say anything about it, but the kick-off at end of game by Bills...whoever our player was that caught it and downed it really quick was awesome.  Super heads up play and let our offense have 1 shot.

 

4.  I want to be more disgusted at Shula than Rivera.  If Smitty believes in the guy I guess I'll buy in too but the 3rd and 5 call...run up the middle...wtf?  No play action pass?  No roll out and hit Olsen?  Not sure why we dont run a LOT more screens...they always seem to gain yards but its always off tackle / up the middle crap.

 

5.  If Bell sucked so bad why didnt Rivera try and help that guy out?  Put a TE to help block or something.

 

6.  The Drive & and even Adam Gold both were saying to let Cam loose...free him to do his thing.  Amen.

7.  Why is Williams between the tackles the only run play in Shula's book.  There are plenty of fakes (read option, end around, etc) but it still ends up with Dwill.  We know it and so did the Bills.  Have Cam tuck one of those away or handoff to Ginn / Smith on the end around.  We should have been wearing throwback jerseys for that game.

I'm not so concerned about the 3rd and 5 call...well it does bother me.....but about the calls prior too.  As soon as they were within FG range they were like ok who cares what happens now...just try to run it up the middle so we can kick this FG and win......Why not try to go for a TD maybe, put the whole game out of reach even if they still had 1 timeout left...down by 10.....I mean I know we love to give the game away in the 4th but I think we couldn't even manage to lose it with 1.5-2 mins left up by 10...

Unfortunately, I'm not sure any run play to the outside would work out so well when you have an aging, over the hill, Left Tackle and a Right Tackle who...well, is indescribably bad. Strangely enough, our interior linemen were our strength yesterday.

5) Yeah we should have ran more 12 Personnel to help out our Tackles.

 

Where did our DL go?  I mean Star had a few good plays, but did Hardy and Johnson pull a Peppers?

 

We need help at a lot of positions, it is making me sick......

week eight, man. just be patient. we'll have both of these things squared away in week eight, just in time to build momentum for next season

Why didn't we use Tolbert more. The man gets through the trenches for a first down. I don't know why we don't use him more. Also he would be good to pass blocke to pick up Byron bells man after he gets beat.

 

Because he still thinks he's 180 lbs. and wants to Marshall Faulk the defense.  It's almost as painful as watching Everette Brown attempt to pass rush.

#2 you must not watch the panthers much. Oakland is the only team that gets worse calls than us.

#3 great heads up play by blackburn

#4 the play calling made sense IF they were planning on converting the 4th down. It makes no sense with what actually happened. we had ran that same play ~ 6-8 times during the game and none of them picked up 5 yards IIRC.

Play action passes: I would have shied away from them too after Cam took that beating. we need short routes; 3 step drops. play action with our Ts weren't a good option *in that situation*

Same with screens (though a bubble screen outside would have been great if the buffalo secondary weren't on their toes)

agreed a rollout would have been great

#5 olsen can't block either. sadly, dwill picked up blitzes better than bell or olsen. that's no compliment to dwill; just emphasizes how bad bell is.

#6 cam needs protection. we aren't serious when we call him superman

      Round 1. TMac arguably the best WR in the draft Round 2. Scour ton mentioned as a possible 1st round edge.     Texas A&M did not use him the same way Purdue did. After the 2023 season he was listed as a first round grade. I believe had Texas A&M used him like they did at Purdue he never makes it out of round 1. Round 3 Princely Umanmielen, we'll go by Princely.  Another highly graded player we got in a lower round. As the video suggests, even if he plays only on passing down it's a positive. Give him a couple of years to develop a he could be a three down player.  Round 4a Etienne IMO a huge upgrade over Blackshear. I can see him in a similar role as CMC without the heavy workload. He can run in between the tackles and has some shifty moves. Give Canales some flexibility. A fellow huddler pointed out UGA running backs don't see the field if they cannot pick up the blitz. Really good pick. Round 4b Ransom a hard hitting safety that has played three different positions on defense. Great pick Round 5a Cam Jackson a massive NT in round 5. I believe a solid rotational pick in a lower round. We added a beast that could make offenses quiver when he's lined up with Brown. Great Value  Round 5b Evans This is another player that can block and has good hands. He also had better seasons before 2024. As a rookie he's probably leaps and bounds better than Ian Thomas. I think he gives us a three headed monster at TE.  Round 6 Horn Jr. Many believe he's just going to be a KR/PR player. I believe there are going to be packages for him to get on the field as a WR. His speed with TMac and Thielen in the slot could be special. I'm really looking forward to seeing him in training camp. I've watched some film and he is very explosive.  Overall I love our picks. I honestly believe all of them will contribute this season. I don't believe we reached on one player in this draft.  This weekend we get a small look at these rookies
