I'm hearing RIvera is out if we lose Sunday.

I picked NYG in my eliminator pool and put $100 down on NYG (ridiculous how Carolina is favored...they are going to get sent back to the stone age in this one)

I hope its true. Because if Rivera is kept for the season there's really no point in watching. I'll tell you what will happen: Team will underachieve, blow leads, win a few at the end of the season to screw draft position and finish 6-10 or 7-9

Anything to make sure JR doesn't have to pay playoff bonuses and that people will re-up their psl's next year so he can fill his pockets. Then make it known again that he turned down a bid to move the team to LA b/c he cares SO MUCH about Charlotte's people and fans. Thus making them pay for the stadium upgrades for a team that can't win. It's almost as bad as Jacksonville asking for a new stadium at this point.

As much as I want to win and hate the thought of a throw away season. I believe the sooner we move on from Rivera the better. You have to win games when they matter. Ron hasn't done that.

I would love to have him as my defensive coordinator but I don't want him anywhere near my team when it's time to make game defining decisions.

Zod: I get you have to protect your sources on this but is the person you spoke to generally a reliable source of information?

Yeah, definitely has ears on whats happening behind closed doors. I would not post it if I didn't think it was fairly reliable. There really is no upside of me posting it. If its right people will say I was lucky, if not they will say I was full of crap. I just post for the handful of people who find it interesting.

    • this     I never cease to be amazed at the number of people who will run up their blood pressure to get to the grocery store 30 seconds faster or are racing to get to work like it won’t be there at 8:02.   The only thing I’ve ever done that I think added more years to my life besides quitting smoking, was to learn to go with the flow behind the wheel.
    • The term you're looking for is "malinger(ed)", and he didn't.  I'm not sure why Panthers fans act like jaded ex girlfriends.  The dude is clearly injury prone as his time in San Fransico also proves. It's not like he got to San Fran and stopped having problems.
    • My long and rambling post:   The guy is all heart, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he came back even better next year. He’s exactly the guy you lock up. The money won’t ever change the way he plays.  It was a big fumble, but what 1,000 yard back fumbles once in an entire season?  Pride. This team is FINALLY seeing guys who obviously take the game very seriously. Hunt, Chuba, Thielen, Brown, Horn (CB), Coker, Bryce (IMHO). Bye bye, Spider-Man. I don’t see these dudes being OK with teammates half-assing practice or in games. I can see Brown and Horn coming over to talk to somebody.  Good team? Ummm, maybe, but will still likely lose more close games than they win unless this last draft turns in to LOB part 2. That’s a stretch.  Pretty good/decent team. Yes. They finished the season as a pretty good team. I know I sound like a broken record harping back to it, but going in to ATL and putting a 40 burger on them en route to an OT win. A bad Panthers team would have had their brakes beaten off. We’ve seen it.  Rose colored glasses on and bonging a 40 of hopium: There are watershed moments that occur that change the course of franchises, both good and bad. If Fox doesn’t pull Rodney at halftime, the epic journey that was 2003 never happens. On the negative side, Cam taking that one hit from Watt was the end of any and all Panthers relevancy and we’ve been the biggest losers in all of pro sports as a result. Watershed moments. LOB draft. Vinny goes down and the goat is born.  Will the ATL game be the spark that this franchise has desperately needed? Could it be that they hit the mega million jackpot with Princley and Scourton as eat QBs for breakfast? Sure would be nice having 2 all-pro edge guys on the cheap for the next 4 years.  A lot of unknowns, but at least it actually feels  fun again.
