So, will Cam pull a Michael Jordan?

After this whole Under Armour visor controversy with Cam as the front man taking the heat duing the whole shebang (completely ignoring a hundred other players violating the rules, but whatever) I got to thinking this could be an excellent marketing opportunity for both Cam and UA.  Like really big.

Under Armour simply couldn't buy the type of publicity they've gotten over this past week--and that they're likely going to continue to get the following weeks as they'll no doubt talk about it at our next game.  Now... they could simply just cash in and enjoy the publicity they've gotten so far, ooorrrr they could go down an old legendary path that was paramount in turning Nike into the corporate giant that it is today:

Now everyone knows that, whether you love him or hate him, we have one of the most marketable faces in the NFL in our young QB Cam Newton.  Merely mentioning his name in your article title leads to guaranteed hits.  Not only that, but he has nearly unparalleled talent, which if realized, could end with him being one of the all-time greats.

So what do you think they should do?  This is seriously a HUGE opportunity for Cam, Under Armour, and Charlotte.  fug it, let's embrace all this poo.

yeah,  even tho it sucks that this was just another attempt to discredit cam as a decent human, i think this could be a huge boon to not only UA and cam financially, but it has made cam into a  more sympathetic figure (just look at all the comments wherever this story is popping up) and i think could make him into an even more popular player.

that doesn't take away from the fact that this was a douche move from that forbes writer hack and totally unfair that he be singled out for a fine. i just hope that this turns into a positive thing for newton and the panthers.

Like flat out rolling out with non-sanctioned non-blacked out signature Cam Newton Under Armour gear on game day.  That would generate tons of press and capitalize on the story they've already got going.  And with a player as popular/notorious as Cam Newton... I really think there's a huge opportunity there.

He could actually wear whatever he wanted during the suspension he receives for wear a completely different uniform.

I think the difference is the nba commish was just being a dick when he banned the Jordan shoes. People would look at Cam as a complete asshat if he did something similar, because Nike has paid literally a billion dollars for apparel rights. He'll I love Cam, but even I think it would be kinda dick headed to blatantly flaunt other gear after Nike had to pay all that money.

And yeah, goodell would up the fine and suspend him eventually for conduct detrimental to the league.
