Cardinals quietly #2 in rush defense...#1 in yards per attempt.

I know this is kinda off-topic...but this game will say a lot about Shula IMO.  He was perhaps a bit overly conservative in Game 1; he was a bit over-aggressive in Game 2; Game 3 was very well called and had good balance; so now it's time to see if he sticks to the winning formula or if his play-calling continues to be slightly erratic.

Who have they played?

They gave the Lions there only loss and are undefeated at home

This will be the best defense Carolina has faced this season and they matchup defensively good on top of that.

Tough game today for our O

Arizona is giving up 22 points a game (14th) and we are giving up 12 (3rd).  Their defense is ranked 14th and ours is 10th in  yards per game.  I love how everyone is talking about their defense and not ours.  Truth is that our defense will be better than theirs and our offense will be better as well.  It doesn't matter how we get our yards today because points for and against  are the only things that matter.  The only area that concerns me are special teams gaffes and mistakes we make that gives them easy scores.  If it comes down to defense, we got this.

They are giving up points bc their offense is putrid.....have worn out like the Saints for example.

Putrid on 3rd specifically. They are getting the chunk plays.

They also have played strong D without their best player who returns today. They are tough on D.

Best D we have played to date

It doesn't matter how good their defense is as long as our offense is better. The battle here is not their defense but how they match up against our offense. Along the same lines it is their offense versus our defense not one unit in isolation. As long as our defense controls the Arizona offense we will have plenty of chances to score. Hopefully we wear them down as well. If everyone keeps to their season averages I will be fine. 22-12 would be a great final score. Yardage rankings are really not good measures of how well a defense is playing. The onlynthing that matters is points surrendered.

It matters if our pass rush doesn't show up....all game

    • Rags lost again. All is right in the hockey world.
    • He’s responsible for two drafts classes. The first was one of the worst drafts I’ve ever seem. The second one is showing a ton of promise. I’m somewhere between skeptical and hopeful on Morgan.
    • I'm a big fan of Dan. His ability to find productive players deep in the draft will pay off.  I'm going to give him 1.5 draft classes right now, because I do think it's a little unfair to evaluate his first year when he got the job in January, especially when we went into that draft not having a first round pick.  XL and Brooks are still big time TBD players. Both still have incredibly high ceilings, but both have also given us legitimate reasons to have a lot of pause. Trevin Wallace, Chau Smith Wade and Jatavion Sanders have IMO outplayed their draft position early in their careers. That's a great thing. He also got Coker and Demani Richardson as UDFAs that year. Given the situation we were in, I really don't mind the gamble on the high ceiling guys. Still may work out, still may not, but if you made a checklist of ideal situation for an NFL GM to walk into, ours was near the bottom of that list.  Every single 2025 pick is contributing in some way. That typically doesn't happen. I am absolutely blown away by this draft class 6 games in. Even the best GM's miss on occasion, and we can't expect Dan to be 100% on drafts moving forward. Ryan Fitzgerald was an excellent find as well.  Comparing our last two drafts to the previous few is pretty shocking. Can you imagine this season without our Rookies? It would not be good. Additionally, this roster only has 6 players with more than 6 years of experience, and two of those are specialist.  The next step is equally important, and still very much TBD. We have to avoid Cap Chaos.
