rush attack today - big impact

AZ run D is legit....and that allowed them to tee off on us(which we didn't adjust to). Reoccurring issue regardless of OC under RR

Tolbert's run with 32 seconds left before half at our own 20 skewed there stats....the RBs did little. AZ was passively sitting back seeing if we were going to take a shot before half and Tolbert ripped one. Take that one run away???

3.3 yards a carry for 50 yards. (70 rush yards by RBs with the Tolbert run)

I think that us largely an OL stat more than RB stat (so lets not make this a DWill thread)

But when our run goes away and opponents don't respect it and pass rush all day....we always suck. Rivera never has had plays to counter the pass rush. I think they worked in one screen the entire time we were being abused (it of course went for a nice gain but that was it). In today's NFL teams don't always get a nice rush attack to aid them.....when we don't we implode offensively. Teams bring heat when it doesn't have to be respected.....and we can't counter. Couldn't under Chud....couldn't under Shula.

Cam just sits in the pocket...waiting for his deep stuff to develop and gets popped. Repeat.

From what I have seen there is never been a safety valve. Chud nor Shula use the RB at all unless to rush. IMO for what they are the Oline pass blocked ok. If we would have used just a few underneath patterns and more screens we would have been ok.

I completely agree that our playcalling did absolutely nothing to help our OL.  Shula calls plays like we have San Fran's OL.

We simply don't have the talent on the OL. We couldn't run block or pass protect today. Our OL is just plain bad.

Reminded me of the Giants game last year in the 2nd half. Zero threat on the ground.....opponent just brought heat as we sat there not countering all day.

Our OL sucks....we don't help out much. Or Cam.

still don't understand why they abandon the run, with how aggressive zona was playing we had a high chance of breaking one depending on the play call.......no more draw plays no counters no toss, i don't understand in a close game like that with ARZ blitzing like crazy you did little to stop or adjust it, our own coaching staff made us one dimensional not ARZ

    • Why don't we just say they can shove the late round draft picks up their ass? If they want a player they will be starting at WR in Week 1, I want a MLB in return that we can start Week 1. Starter for a Starter Not Starter for a draft pick we'll be debating whether or not they should make the final 53 man roster in 2026.
    • Why?   No. This isn't a situation of a player we want to trade because we have no use for them.  He's our starting slot WR, our leader of the young WR room, Bryce's safety option the last 2 years who he has good chemistry with. If the Vikings didn't run into WR trouble, we'd never have been even considering trading him, so why in the world should we give him up for fair market value in a vacuum for Thielen and disregard what losing him off our roster will do for us this year? A 5th round pick in 2026 is a negligible draft pick, especially with this season being so make or break for Bryce and Canales.
    • The Vikings acquiring all these late round picks has me feeling like we're about to see another CMC situation play out here. Trade a player we really like for the equivalent of what we want for them on the draft pick chart, but because of a bunch of late round picks instead of the one pick value we actually want. Which will do the same thing in the end, nothing, because 6th and 7th round picks rarely work out to begin with, or we're just going to use them to move up 10 picks in the 3rd or 4th round to take another DJ Johnson
